Happy Pi Day

I got my pictures back from the weekend. I hope I can scan some in before I have to go to bed. If I do, I'll post them here. If not, I dunno when they'll get scanned. They are cool. DDR, Kittens, and sushi.

I went to campus. Saw a flute that I'm buying from a friend of [personal profile] blks, and got my pictures, and went to the lounge for a bit, where I talked to [personal profile] jcreed for a while, and learned that although I thought I had a better solution to one of the puzzles in the robot game thingy that [profile] combinator is working on, it turns out it's a better solution in terms of Ricochet Robot but not better in terms of this game. Oh well. He has a program that generates more boards though, which will be good because I'll probably be done with all the puzzles it came with pretty soon.

Zephyr dinner was at La Fiesta down in south Oakland, walkable from campus (and it was really nice out). Charlie was also in the lounge, and we dragged Nick along to dinner - we met up with Norm and Eli in the hall, and then Alex and Kevin and John and (I forget her name), and Karen and Pete and Rochberg at the restaurant. (I also ran into my friend Brian on the way... he works at Freemarkets these days and said I should bug him about job openings sometime) The food was remarkably good, I wouldn't mind going back there sometime. After dinner we went to Dave&Andy's for ice cream! Wheeeeeee!

I found Carl in the lounge after dinner. We played some music from his SCA book - me on soprano recorder mostly and him on flute or alto recorder. Unfortunately, I suck. I think I want to try to learn the soprano part for "Gathering Peascods" and then I will be happy. Yeah. It'd be cool to like, write some music, but that's always tough. We hung out for a while and then played a game of Settlers with Mark T and rjmccall. Then I played some SimCity. Then I came home.

All through the evening, tom7 and people were planning stuff for Pi day. I originally said I wasn't going to come hang out because I didn't think I'd be on campus at 11:30pm, but... well, then it turned out they only had one roller anyway for painting the fence, and it seemed like they got a whole ton of people to help out chalking 4096 digits of pi on the ground. So, I didn't feel too bad, and went around wishing them happiness and pi and luck and all. (I only know 80 digits of pi. I am a wuss. I haven't added to that number in the past five years. I should push myself over 100 sometime.)

martin asked if I wanted to come help and hang out, but since I have only gone to bed after around midnight a couple of times in the last 3 or 4 months, I didn't think it would be a good idea. So that was unfortunate.
