I wish it wasn't raining

Today I went back to Heiroku for lunch after my week and a half hiatus. The sushi chef was the one I used to think hated me, but today he saw me, said (in Japanese), "long time no see! there's a free seat over here, come on in." And then he put some katsuo, and buri, and other things I always order, out on the belt. Woo.

Later in the afternoon I met up with Sam for an hour or so in Starbucks, where we chatted about random stuff for a while, and he gave me camera bags. NICE camera bags. One's probably overkill -- it's a laptop/camera backpack along the lines of the Kata bag I have back in Seattle, but the other one is pretty cool, it's a sling bag kind of like the messenger bag I currently carry. I'll have to play with them and see.

I managed to do two lesson chapters with my 12-year-old student today, because she's going to Disneyland next week and won't be in class. Pretty crazy -- but one was a review lesson and one was the Easter lesson, and she just GOT everything immediately. That even includes sitting there playing my homemade Candy Land game together 5 or 6 times in a row because I kept winning so she was like "Play again!". (Part of the Easter lesson was reviewing colors/numbers, a la "I found 3 blue eggs, 2 purple eggs.." so I figured the best way was just to play Candy Land.)

A lot of people weren't in class tonight, because tomorrow is a national holiday, they have the day off, and there are a LOT of "farewell" parties at workplaces for various people transferring elsewhere in April, apparently.

So yeah, I have the day off tomorrow for national holiday. But it's FUCKING RAINING OUTSIDE which means it's highly unlikely I will be able to see the Dragons-Swallows game at Jingu tomorrow. I guess it wouldn't be the worst thing for me to just spend the day relaxing, maybe go catch a movie and whatnot. But dammit I want to see the goddamn Dragons and they won't be back in Tokyo on a day I can go until the end of April. Maybe I need to go to Nagoya.

Still need to plan Sapporo trip. Still need to get re-entry permit for America trip. Still need to plan America trip, kind of. GRAR.

The "tomorrow's pitchers" page on the Pacific League page actually HAS PEOPLE on it. Baseball is STARTING tomorrow. Huh... I wonder if I can watch the Fighters game on TV somewhere tomorrow if Jingu rains out. I'd love to go to Yakiniku Erika but they might be closed for the holiday too, and I'm too shy to go alone anyway.
