Weekend
Sunday I went down to Chiba for the Marines-Baystars game. I sat in the leftfield (visitor) bleachers and sang a lot (though not as much as I would have if I wasn't feeling sluggish/sick; I know better than to lose my voice over this stuff again), and the Baystars won. Wheeeee!
Then I went to Costco, since it is only a 10-minute walk from Chiba Marine Stadium, and I ate pizza that TASTES LIKE AMERICA, and bought bagels and a salad too. Oh, I got a 4GB USB memory stick too and I'm gonna experiment with it, though argh I need to get a new computer still too.
I went to see the movie Enchanted. Yeah, the Disney cartoon/live one. I thought it was overall entertaining, though I basically spent half of it laughing at the brilliance and the other half wanting to just curl up and die of cringing at the awfulness. Eh. Why are fairytale princesses always required to be able to talk to animals? Also Idina Menzel is REALLY not cut out to be a movie actress. Ever.
Today I went to the Tokyo Dome for the Giants-Tigers game, sat in the upper deck cheap unreserved seats, wore my Ogasawara Fighters jersey, and was generally uncommitted to either team until in the late innings the Giants brought in ex-Lotte reliever Fujita and he choked up their lead, and so I cheered for the Tigers at that point. Pau would be proud because I even cheered for Hiyama. The game ended in a 1-1 tie after 9 innings.
After the game I was very bad and spent a LOT of money:
- at Yamashita bookstore I bought the 2007 guide books for the Fighters and Dragons, and the program for the A's-RedSox series
- at Ikebukuro Bic Camera I finally got a new point-and-click camera (my old one died in December)... a Canon Digital IXY 10. I chose Canon because I have always had Canon point-and-click cameras and the interface just feels familiar to me. The stupid part is I played with the new snazzy IXY's with their 8.0-megapixelness and all and they felt... weird to me. Like toy cameras. Too plastic. I played with the old IXY and kinda liked it. Except, get this. The new IXY's were all like, 33000 yen. The one-year-old IXY 7.1-MP was 24000 yen. Or so I thought. Turns out that ACTUALLY, the 24000 yen price tag was for a set of the old IXY and a Selphy photo printer... but there was no choice to just buy the old IXY.
So after thinking it over for about 30 minutes I went back to the ATM and took out a buncha money and bought the camera and printer. It seemed like a pretty good deal to me and there have been a few times I've wanted to print out pictures to bring to class, so... maybe it'll work out for the best. Hmm.
And then I came home and ate that Costco chicken caesar salad from yesterday. It was huge, and salady. I wasn't really sure how long it'd keep in the fridge, hence eating it all tonight.
Now, watching TV and doing laundry as is normal for Monday. (Mito Komon now, next will be Bara no Nai Hanaya, then SMAPxSMAP and Ainori.) I need to write some things about baseball, and do some more playing with my computer... and then back to work. But this week we have Thursday off! And I will see the Chunichi Dragons at long last! Yaaay.

Do they not play extra innings to resolve ties in Japan, or was there something special about the game that caused them not to?

I'm not sure I understand your point about fairy tale princesses always having to be able to talk to animals, or at least not why it's a problem. Yes, fairy tale princesses do talk to animals an awful lot -- that's why Giselle has to be able to. She's meant to be totally cliche.
For the most part, what made me cringe was the godawful acting of the little girl.

I mean, just, I always think of that line in Into the Woods where Red Riding Hood is like "Uhh... you TALK to birds?"

Then I realized you hadn't mentioned Pi Day yet this year. :)

Hahahahah man, I was watching that on cable in 1989 with English subtitles. Taught me everything I know, it did.
