Shinjo is frivolous

Today in my Passages class we were discussing how there is a city in Fukui prefecture named Obama (小浜, little beach), and apparently Barack Obama thanked them for sending him chopsticks or some such thing. My students seem to be really amused by the connection. One of them was even like "I have been to Obama!"

I told my 8pm student, who was trying to learn the word "frivolous", "Do you remember Tsuyoshi Shinjo? Shinjo is frivolous." She cracked up and about every ten minutes whenever we'd see the word frivolous come up in the lesson text, would be like "Frivolous. Shinjo is frivolous." And we'd both start laughing again.

Speaking of old Fighters players, I went to Daiso today and bought a bunch of felt... I'm going to try to make new letters to put over my old Ogasawara jersey. Though I'm not quite sure what is a good way to do it without damaging the jersey but that is still washable. I thought about using fabric glue to attach felt letters to a felt background, then sew the felt onto the jersey, but eh. We'll see. I've got several weeks before my Fighters-a-thon to figure it out.

Today at Heiroku, I ordered kanburi and katsuo. The guy gave me kanburi and aji. I didn't realize it until I'd eaten one of the aji. The good part is that I discovered I don't particularly like or dislike aji, which I hadn't tried before. The bad part is, I wanted katsuo and didn't get it! Oh well. I ate a ton of sushi anyway. Heiroku rules (usually).

Haru took home his Catan set tonight so no more Settlers in our 9pm class :(

38 days until I go visit America! Wheeeeeee!
