Duane's last day! Oh no!

I've been ravenously hungry all day. Dunno why. It started at lunch (went for kaitensushi with Eri again), where I ate 8 plates of sushi. Then I went to Daiso for some stuff and also bought some candy, which I found myself eating all day. At 6:30 I felt hungry AGAIN and went to the bakery for some yakisobapan and strawberry rolls and whatnot, which I wolfed down... and then at 9pm I noticed Duane or someone had put mini chocolate bars out in a basket in the lobby and I ate two more pieces of candy. Came home and had cookies and have been drinking a ton of hot tea.

This is in stark contrast to... I forget what day, a few days ago, where I literally only ate one meal all day, no snacks, no nothing, because I just kinda didn't feel like eating, and pretty much forgot to eat.

Anyway, this morning it was snowing here. It's odd that it was about 0 degrees Celsius at noon when I was riding my bike to the station, yet it was about 3 degrees when I was riding home at 11:30pm. Been a while since it got WARMER at night!

It was Duane's last day at work! Very sad. What's worse is that several people couldn't come to classes because of the snow, so they didn't get to say goodbye, although hopefully they can come to the goodbye party next Saturday. We'll see.

During my 5pm class (the one with my one 11-year-old student), the target was "Don't ____". So we were drawing things not to do on the board. Like I drew a baseball and bat and said "Don't play baseball!" and she drew a book and said "Don't read book!", and I drew music notes and said "Don't sing!" and she topped it off by putting one of my smiley magnets in a square and said "Don't smile!"

I came out of that class with this big pout on my face, and Eri and Duane were like "What's wrong? Are you sad that Duane's leaving?" and I was like "No, my student ordered me not to smile anymore." Meanwhile my student just has this big grin on her face, because she's basically been ordering me around for the last 5 minutes of class. "Don't stand up. Don't sit on the chair. Don't sit on the floor. Don't throw ball. Don't sing. Don't smile."

Oh yeah, and in my 9pm Headways, we were talking about sports contracts trying to figure out what sports the guys should teach their kids to play (both of them have a 1-year-old or so son). I got out this week's Shukan Baseball since it's the "money issue", and showed them how Ichiro's 2008 salary is higher than the entire payroll of the Hiroshima Carp or Rakuten Golden Eagles and they were both like "OMFG, we have to get our sons to play baseball and hit left-handed."

I did a little bit of popping of music after work and then came home. I've been listening to the Oricon Top 100 of 2007 and realizing how many of these songs I'm familiar with, which is still a really weird realization since I know next to nothing about current pop songs in America. Also, I'm really torn on what I think of that recently-released duet between Celine Dion and Yuna Ito. My entire soul rejects the very concept of it, but my brain goes "Dude, that could be pretty funny if you learned the Japanese part and then found a Japanese person to sing the English part at karaoke."

I remember they had that same lesson a couple of years ago. We had so much fun with it.. I played a simon-says-type game where I had the kids run around the table, and then very quickly I'd say, "touch the table," or "don't touch the table," or "jump" or "don't jump." They loved it... ended up playing it for months on end after the lesson.

The days when I feel ravenous and eat everything I can lay hands on inevitably turn out to be the two days before my period starts. Is it about that time?

The cold could definitely be a factor -- your body might be demanding energy to keep warm.

I have the bipolar appetite thing too. There are days when I have to force myself to eat one meal, and days where I eat 5 meals and still feel hungry. Bleh.

I have not noticed any patterns on when they happen. Unlike most things though, these kinds of days happen every season for me.

My eating habits are really messed up, too. I rarely have time for a solid meal at work, so I end up scarfing down a CalorieMate bar in between classes. I cook something or get fast food around 5 PM, which is my first real meal of the day, then end up starving again around midnight, so I make an instant ramen or something before bed. Meh.
