Donuts Wreak Havoc on Kawaguchi, Film At 11

Well, not really.

You know, I feel kind of like "man, I didn't really get anything done today", but what that really means is, "Man, I didn't really do much on the computer today."

In the early afternoon I did some laundry and cleaned up and organized a whole bunch of papers and crap that was lying around. In the mid-afternoon I rode up to the Diamond City mall to go shopping. (On the way to shopping I went to pay two of my bills, and I embarrassingly enough forgot to have the complete paper with me and the 7-11 attendant was like "Where's the personal records paper?" and I thought I said "uhh... oops... I haven't paid this yet" but what I think I accidentally said was "I've never paid my bills before" because he was explaining how they work and the stamps and I'm just like "I know, I know, is it ok to just pay it without a records paper?" and he said "Yeah, I'll give you a receipt, is that okay?" and that was that. Sigh. Well, at least I'll never do that again.)

Anyway, the mall was PACKED. Traffic was fucked up for about a good half a kilometer on every side of the mall, seriously. Why was that, you ask? Because it was Sunday?

No, because they JUST OPENED A FUCKING KRISPY KREME AT THE MALL.

I thought it was bad enough in Seattle when you'd have to wait in line for like 10 minutes to get donuts, but here... apparently 3pm was actually a SLOW time, because the wait was only 40 minutes instead of upwards of two hours.

I decided there was no fucking way I was waiting 40 minutes for a donut, and went and grabbed lunch from Subway instead. Then I went up to Jusco and tried on various clothes. I honestly just kind of want a pair of jeans that fits me and is more stylish than the baggy ones I brought from Seattle. (They would be baggy even if they were a small enough size; it's just the cut.) Anyway, the great thing was that I fit into jeans of a waist size 4 cm smaller than last time I went to try on jeans, but the bad thing is that the smaller the waist size, the less they come with a long enough inseam, and sure enough... I couldn't find something that fit me both around the waist and being long enough. Goddamnit, I'm too fucking tall for this country. On the other hand I tried on a skirt-leggings combo and loved it. I ended up buying two of the skirt sets since it was only Y2980 for the skirt and leggings... and normally leggings alone are like Y1500-2000.

I looked at some various shirts and some other stuff, and picked up another one of the longsleeve plain shirts from Uniqlo since it was on sale for Y790, and then decided I better leave the mall before I buy anything else. Not that any other stores in the mall actually have clothes that fit me, but you never know, I would have found something, I'm sure.

I put in some more laundry -- the afternoon batch was still hanging in my room to dry -- and sorted out even more papers and threw out more stuff and gathered up some more things, and I took my clothes to the laundromat to throw them in the dryer. I ran into Hidemi, she was finishing up laundry with her sister and her two kids. She asked if I'd seen the Krispy Kreme, heh... I explained that I saw it but didn't want to wait. She said that they had all gone earlier and waited for an hour for donuts! Next time they're going, she'll call me or something :)

(I'm not kidding when I say that the KK is probably the most exciting thing happening in this part of Saitama. Seriously.)

I biked down to the 100-yen shop while my stuff was in the dryer and bought a few containers for organizing my bills and papers! Yay. Then I came back and got my laundry from the dryers and spent the next few hours folding laundry, organizing papers more, inputting bills into a spreadsheet, watching the World Volleyball Cup, then watching the sports news normally, then trying to vacuum my floor... seriously, I did a LOT of good work on apartment cleaning but not much else. The sports news was pretty riveting though, they had a few clips of the Fighters fan fest with Trey Hillman playing guitar and singing songs in Japanese. I was all sad.

Baystars pitcher Daisuke Miura got some award for doing community work and helping kids in need... there was a story about how he had visited a kid named Yamato in the hospital a few years ago (I couldn't understand what disease the kid had but he had to wear a breathing mask and couldn't walk well), and stayed friends with the kid, always encouraging him to fight hard to survive, sending him letters and messages, and coming to play catch with him in the hospital sometimes. "Let's play catch at Yokohama Stadium someday!" Miura told the kid, and this year in May, they had a special day for him and the kid got to hang out with the team before the game and play catch... sadly, this year in September, Yamato died. He was only 7 years old. Miura even went to the funeral and all. To lighten up the sad mood, they then showed Miura's baseball camp for middle-school kids, where he was running clinics to teach better throwing motions and other such stuff. Anyway, the upshot is that I make fun of Daisuke Miura a lot because he has this ridiculous trademark pompadour hairstyle that seriously is like 50 years out of date, but... I decided today that I vow not to make fun of him for an entire year, because it seems like there's a good guy under all that hair gel.

I just spent an hour sorting baseball cards too, which probably makes me an even bigger dork.
