Thursday, Friday
I spent last night working with LJarchive and trying to find a post that would clue me in to what my blood type is, but alas, maybe I didn't mention it on here. I could have sworn that at some point in the last few years when I had blood drawn, they told me my type, and I mentioned it on LJ, but I guess I was wrong. Sigh.
Thursday
It was a super-busy day at work. I came in early -- like 12:10pm -- and Eri was already here. Got hire-katsu and Hokkaido potato croquette for lunch and had my Fighters hat and the Fighters omamori that I made and was wearing a Fighters shirt. All of this was to be good luck for the team.
I had classes at 1pm, 3pm, 4pm, 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm though, and had to spend the rest of that time preparing for said classes, so I barely did anything else that day. A student came by from my 8pm class, around 5pm, and he had been on business trips for the last few months, so I'd never met him before. He brought back cookies from Canada and cakes from Scotland and gave them to me to give to everyone. After talking to me for about 5 minutes he asked, "Where's Rebecca?" and I had to explain that I had replaced her... almost THREE MONTHS AGO.
Fighters game was 0-0 going into the 7pm class, 6-0 coming out. Pretty awesome. I found out by the time I left work at 11pm that the Fighters won, and I went home and watched the sports highlights and it rocked. I wrote a ton about it on Marinerds. Trey Hillman yelled "SHINJITEMASHITA!!!!!" this year in the post-victory manager's speech, which was the funniest thing ever, short of the beer party afterwards. They're going to the Japan Series! WOOHOO!
And the Dragons won.
Friday
I spent an hour in the afternoon running errands. I went to a convenience store and paid two of my bills (electric and gas, I think) and tried to pay my water bill but I apparently have the wrong papers for it, which I found out after failing at the conbini and asking at the bank and at the post office. Oops. I also got the week's Shukan Baseball and I forgot to get the daily Nikkan Sports. OOPS :(
Rita, my GEOS trainer from a few months ago, came to school for the evening to "observe" my lessons and give me pointers on dealing with my 8-year-olds. She pointed out that the student I think is the biggest problem is actually NOT the biggest problem and I will be saying more about that sometime in a non-public entry. Everything else went pretty well though, although I had wanted to sneak out for food at 8pm and didn't succeed since Hirakawa was here too and I had to do a bunch of paperwork and straighten out some stuff.
I helped out one of Eri's students after my 9pm class, and then I stayed to do more paperwork and to also prepare some stuff for my Saturday classes, since I'd spent my time during the day talking to Rita and stuff. Oops. Didn't get home until almost midnight. I ended up eating McDonald's food for dinner, since I had a special coupon and a Big Mac combo was like 400 yen. Crazy.
And the Dragons won.
Saturday
I got here early again. Literally, last night I got home at midnight, I tried playing with LJarchive for 2 hours and fell asleep, then woke up at 9:30 and pretty much came straight to work. Good day though. My 1pm and 2pm classes rocked, we were spending the time talking about numerical word roots, and about baseball, and stuff like that. I love that I have two classes of science nerds on Saturdays, it's fun to geek out with everyone and teach them how to geek out in English.
I spent another hour or two doing more lesson prep and other stuff and now I'm just waiting for my 6pm and 7pm students and classes to start. I might go meet some people after work if I'm not feeling exhausted later.
And if the Dragons win I'm screwed and there's no game tomorrow and I won't get to see any playoff games :( :( :(
I want to go somewhere for the weekend of Nov 3rd. Sapporo and Nagoya are my main candiates. Any other suggestions?
