I am a countable noun
Today I crunched numbers, ate sushi, shopped at Daiso, taught some classes, rode my bike to Toda Koen and back, and watched some TV.
There's more to it, but somehow I don't feel like writing, which is a really odd sensation. Let's see.
I crunched some baseball numbers which basically indicate that Darvish rules. Just in time for the playoffs, I guess, since he's starting tomorrow.
At the kaitensushi place where I go once a week or so, this time it was filled with foreigners, oddly. There were these two guys speaking some European language that I didn't recognize, though their Japanese seemed passable too.
Eri sat in on my 8-year-olds' class and they were remarkably well-behaved. I bet it's because they were suddenly like "oh shit, someone who will understand us being asshats in Japanese is in the room," but I'm really not entirely sure. The actual reason she sat in is because I had really awful stomach cramps right beforehand and I wasn't sure I'd be able to get through the class. It was a nice side effect that they weren't completely out of control, though.
My 9pm student wasn't there this week. My head teacher was supposed to come over with a book for me, but he never did. And this was after I had talked to him on the phone for half an hour in the afternoon about how to teach kids' classes. So I pretty much left the building at the stroke of 10pm. I rode the train home with Duane and talked about Canada for some reason.
I should have gone straight home, but instead I rode my bike around. I decided this time to ride over the Warabi station bridge and go west instead of east. I guess I went through Warabi City, where I did find a gigantic mallish Ito Yokado, among other things. There was an intersection where I found a ton of stray cats looking for food. They were really cute cats, too, and once they realized I wasn't going to chase them away, they came over and meowed at me, but alas, I had no food for them. I found the Saikyo line tracks and then found the Toda Koen station. Nearby was a Flet's 100-yen shop, too, which said it was open until 1am. That's pretty awesome, though too far from me to be useful. Still, I had to go in, and I bought a few random things. Then I rode home. The end.
I just watched another episode of Hana Kimi instead of doing something productive. I wonder what the new doramas for this season are...
Oh, offhand I just also remembered that my dad called me this morning. He woke me up around 11am, and said "I'm sure you've heard this already, but they arrested a kid at your cousin's high school who was going to go all Columbine on them."
Note the following:
1) it was 11am in Japan, thus 10pm in Philly, and I'd been asleep for the evening, so how exactly would I have heard about it?
1a) this is assuming of course that Japan news would even bother reporting it
2) I don't even know what high school my cousin goes to anyway so I wouldn't have even known it mattered
3) what exactly was I supposed to do about the situation anyway?
I also ran into my downstairs neighbor again on my way out the door. She said in English, "Hi Deanna. Is today your holiday?" She thought I had the day off because it was 12:25pm and I was leaving and not wearing a suit or anything, but I explained that I just work late hours, and asked if it was her day off. No, turns out she's a medical records investigator or something wacky like that, so she was home because she's working on negotiating a parking space for her car, since she drives around a lot for work. Crazy.
