I rode my bike to Hatogaya
And after getting home and comparing it to a map of Seattle, I realized that's like the equivalent of saying "I rode my bike from my house in Ballard to Megan and Josh's house up in Greenlake," at least in terms of distance. I don't know why everything here seems further than it is. I rode for about 4-5 miles tonight and it seemed like a lot at the time, though.

The red line is my route to Hatogaya station, including a loop back at the end when I realized I was lost and going the wrong way. The purple line is the route I took back. The orange dot is that same Kawaguchi hospital, which I could actually see from the top of the bridge I rode over. So now it doesn't seem quite as far away, though it'd easily take me around 30 minutes to bike there if I had to, I think.
There's really nothing at Hatogaya station, or at least, nothing that's open at midnight, aside from a 7-11. Even the McDonald's was closed. There was a grocery store open until 1am along the route that I got lost on, I guess. Still, it was the principle -- I had decided I was going to ride my bike to Hatogaya station, and goddamnit, I did.
I think my next goal should be to actually ride my bike to Akabane, about 3.5 miles from here. The question is, should I try it on a work day, or should I try it first sometime at night? I might not want to show up to work all sweaty after riding my bike there, but, I also might not want to be riding any of those bridges over the Arakawa river late at night. Eh. I guess I could try to ride around the west side of Warabi station and just check out the area sometime, too...
As for the rest of the day, I'm not sure what to say that goes in a public entry. Eri and I got noodles for dinner after work at the wossname soba Y390 chain near Akabane station, and it sucked. The place was smoky, the service was lousy (for Japan), and so on. I was surprised because the place is nonsmoking and really quick at lunchtime. I won't be going back there at night, that's for sure.
I've put up my pictures from the Yokohama McDonald's full of baseball stuff, but I still haven't put up my Odaiba photos. I suck. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow.
