DANCE FOR YOUR DOSAGE, MY LITTLE CAFFEINE PUPPETS, DANCE

Yesterday I didn't have any caffeine. I don't think it was a conscious decision per se, I just drank a lot of water because my stomach was feeling weird, and per my no-caffeine in the evening take, decided to drink Sprite with my dinner.

Today I have a major caffeine headache. But instead of having some caffeine, I am not having caffeine. Let's see how long I can keep at it.

hmm, i have a long entry coming. i'll post it in a sec.

As a caffeine addict, I've found you can actually quit it wihtout going cold turkey. My dad's doctor recommended he just wait until he got a headache and have as little as needed to make the headache go away. By the end of the week, you won't need it anymore.

Of course, I say this as someone who has quit caffeine, and restarted the habit, a good dozen times by now. Although one of those times was for six months... the problem for me is not physical addiction but the Meaning of Soda to my psyche...

I think gradual reduction works better than cold-turkey. It's how I get through Yom Kippur -- on Rosh Hashana I start reducing intake to get to 0 before YK. In theory, I could then just not start drinking it again, but in practice, it never works out that way.

I'd actually be thrilled if I could have convenient (cold) caffeine without either sugar or nutrisweet. I just want the drug, not the calories or chemicals. :-)
