More selling, less buying, some packing

It's been such an exciting week, let me tell you. When did I last update for real? Tuesday?

Wednesday I woke up with a horrendous stomachache, which set me back a day on my leaving-Seattle preparations, because I literally couldn't move without pain for about 3-4 hours. In the afternoon I took some painkillers and eventually managed to fill two whole boxes with videotapes and some CDs and then stacked several books on top, which I then proceeded to take to the Half Price Books in Cap Hill. I accidentally scraped my car against another one in the lot trying to get into a compact space by the supply door. I went in and asked about the car, but nobody knew whose it was, so I brought in my books, went to write a note, and... the other car was gone. Doh.

It took them an hour to go through the stuff I'd brought. I still wasn't feeling particularly good so I spent most of my time in the bookstore sitting in a chair and reading random bridge books. Not sure what possessed me to do that.

Afterwards I came home; Chris and George came over to look at some of my shelves to see if they'd want any. They're taking a few of my bookcases and a few CD towers, so yay! They loaded a few into their car, and then George drove back home with them and we said we'd meet her at volleyball. Chris hung out here for a little while, and despite that I knew I sort of felt crappy, I took another Tylenol and went to vball with the intention of not playing a ton. Ended up staying two hours, but I know I was playing sort of crappier than usual. I was mostly just slow on moving, and could still play just fine otherwise. Told a few people I'm moving away, since I dunno if I'll get back there next week... after I came home I finished my GEOS homework and sent it off to them.

Thursday I was a bit slow on the uptake, but eventually ran a few errands during the day, namely taking a bunch of stuff to Pink Godzilla to sell off. (They give semi-decent prices, BUT it's in store credit, so they'll only give 80% in cash.) After that I went to Brown's Cooperstown to see about offloading some baseball cards, but the guy there was like "the owner's out of town, and well... er... all of your stuff is from the late 80's and early 90's, see, and that's when baseball cards were SUPER MASS PRODUCED, so it's kind of worthless to us here. I say put it on Craigslist, see if you get any takers."

At least he was nice.

So I got home, changed into dressier clothes, and took the bus down to the Seattle Center, where I met up with Oren and Zach and Carl by the Space Needle, because Carl had made a reservation for us at Sky Cafe or whatever they call the rotating restaurant at the top of the Needle. We got up there around 6:30 and had dinner for about 2 hours, so over two full rotations (it takes something like 49 minutes to go around). It was pretty neat! The special of the day was prime rib, which is one of my favorites, so I had that. (So did Oren. Zach got some green pork chop thing and Carl got halibut.) It was pretty good! It definitely would have been a pretty good place for the 7th, back when we were doing those dinners. We also had dessert, which was presented nicely but wasn't as spectacularly good. (We got cheesecake and tiramisu; a lot of people were getting something called "the laser orbital" or something, basically an ice cream sundae with lots of dry ice poured in so it was steaming for effect.)

We went up to the observation deck after that and hung out for a bit, then came home. I worked on packing more books and things into boxes, and also more rereading of Harry Potter. I'm about 100 pages out of being done speed rereading book 6.

Friday I went through clothes, mostly t-shirts. I basically filled one medium box with shirts I'm keeping, and then filled two small boxes with t-shirts I'm not keeping, and I shipped those to Aiton. There's a whole fuckton of KGB and AphiO shirts in there that should perhaps be given to proper channels... or just worn out by Aiton :)

I did more boxing, and also threw out more stuff, and I stopped by Red Mill for dinner and had the most fabulous butterscotch milkshake ever. Oh yeah, I also watched Inoue Mao's new dorama for a bit while working on managing some files on my laptop. I also called GEOS -- I'd gotten a "message delayed" from Hotmail about my CP1, and Michel explained that they had a bunch of servers go down, whoops, so don't worry about it and if I hadn't heard back by Monday just resend it then. Whew. He seemed happy that I'd called to check up on it, so I guess that's good.

In the evening, I went to ballroom, and had a pretty good time, even though I spent most of the time dancing with people who I'm already sort of friends with there. Nothing wrong with that really. A and I danced ninety billion foxtrots and waltzes and they were all awesomeness, and we also polkaed (yay!). E was there but left early this week; I said I'd email him sometime, so I should go do that. I danced a lot with M, which was funny, because it was stuff like hustle and samba and tango, dances that I think I suck at, but in reality it's more that I don't really get the way they teach people to do it out here, but since he also learned midwest collegiate style, I can actually follow him! (Seriously, I think he is the only person there I have successfully sambaed with, EVER.) I was complimented on my dancing by several people in the mixer, including a guy who turned out to be from USABDA or something, who wanted to know where I was studying and told me I had a great frame. (I do?) B wasn't there again, though, which was sad, but I did convince V to dance a few swings with me and we didn't kill each other yet again :)

I somehow ended up sitting out the last two dances, including the last waltz, which would normally have been sad, but I sat on the stage talking to friends of M's, and he told them I was going off to Japan, which they found interesting, so after ballroom was over I ended up going with the three of them to Pochi for bubble tea, which was pretty fun; turns out D+D were at RPI around the same time I was at CMU, so we had the same sort of eras of game overlaps and whatnot. We mostly failed at getting M to share college stories, sadly. Funny how I'm finally getting to know some people at ballroom better and of course I'm immediately leaving the country :)

Now I'm going to hopefully go finish rereading HP6, and tomorrow... I want to go to Tacoma for the Rainiers game but the rain makes me very sad. We'll see how much stuff I get done in the afternoon and then I'll call around and decide, I guess.

You have a great frame. But I haven't danced with you in a million years.
