Public Entry, aka what's going on

I'm moving to Japan in a month. I'll be teaching English for GEOS. My tentative placement, which will become definite in about 2 weeks, is here, in Akabane, which is in the north part of Tokyo.

I'll be leaving Seattle for Vancouver on July 30th, going through training for a few days, departing for Japan on August 3rd, arriving August 4th, and I think I officially will start work on August 7th. This is particularly amusing if you realize that I moved to Seattle exactly 5 years ago on July 30th. Nice closure there.

I apologize for not telling everyone about this earlier, but for various reasons, mostly due to not knowing when things would be set in stone, and whether things would work out at all, I didn't want to make a big deal about it. I might go back and unlock or unfilter some of my entries about the process up to this point, but we'll see.

Oh yeah, and if anyone wants any of my stuff... I'll be selling off a whole bunch of video games and books and videos and baseball stuff and all... I'll post here as I make lists.

(FYI, it is actually a bit fortuitous, since most of the reason I'm making a huge roadtrip is to help Robby get north, but now he has some silly wedding party to attend the day we're supposed to push off, so if he has to abort then I may end up just flying and regaining all the vacation I was originally expecting to have.)

Whee! I know we've been e-mailing (and I owe you a response :P work...) but it'll be fun to meet up sometime. I'm actually in Japan right now, in Tokyo, so getting to see you shouldn't be too hard... though I'm hoping your school is somewhere near a rail line, which would make things a lot easier from my perspective? ^_^;
