Weekend of games and baseball and baseball games and...
Saturday, there were like ninety things I could have done... a friend's book event, a friend's band playing, a bunch of board game parties, a Mariners game, etc. I ended up ducking out on most of them because our Iron Heroes group picked Saturday afternoon as a time that everyone could meet, and it was my housemate Zach's birthday, so I went with him to birthday dinner.
Unfortunately birthday dinner was at Kanishka and it was terrible. I hadn't been there in like three years or so, and I remembered it being pretty good, but this time the service was awful (they even forgot my dinner) and the food wasn't great (I had stomach pain for the rest of the night).
Iron Heroes went okay though I think our characters are doomed. We did something dumb, too -- I disabled a trap and then we accidentally set it off anyway and destroyed a bunch of the stuff we were looking for. Oops.
After dinner I stopped by Chris and George's house for their games, but a bunch of people (Chris, Neal, Josh, Ratha, and Mark Atwood) were already involved in a game of Wallenstein. Cory and I talked for a bit, and then Megan and Heidi and George got back from their walk and cooked dinner, but I was feeling pretty sluggish and tired, so I went home and did laundry and zonked out.
Today I went to the Mariners-Royals game. I got there early but there was no BP, sadly, and the signature of the day was getting Royals catcher John Buck, who is very tall. The Mariners beat the Royals 5-1, I took a ton of pictures since it was sunny and I was sitting in row 4, and I got pretty sunburnt. Game report is in the usual place.
A random guy came up to me outside Safeco after the game like "Hey, you're Deanna, right? I think I met you at one of the pizza feeds," but I honestly have no idea who the hell he was, which was sort of weird.
I walked all the way up to Seneca street to catch a bus, which took bloody forever, and I stopped in both Elliott Bay and in Starbucks on the way. By the time I got home it was well past 6pm and I was feeling pretty zonked. Carl came over and we went to Ivar's fast-food for dinner, and then watched the first episode of Enka no Joou, a dorama from last season which is TOTALLY FUCKED UP. We're going to give it one more episode before switching back to something sane, I think.
The pager didn't go off all weekend. Yay.
My 30th birthday is in a week, on May 7th. I think I know what I want to do for a birthday dinner, but it is sort of expensive. Though it's tempting to try to do Todai anyway for a big group (it's been a while since anyone did a Todai birthday, hasn't it?), and maybe do my other idea with a smaller group on another day. Eh...

I got sunburnt, too - more on the left side than the right, since that's where the afternoon sun headed. It looks bizarre. XD

It was an awesome game, but we didn't get any of the knit caps. Did you? =D
BTW...Happy early birthday!! =)

That's the FIRST base side, by the way...

We were actually a little late, so I'm not surprised we missed out on the caps. Oh well, maybe next time!
Do you have season tickets? It'd be cool to sit together sometime (I know Kiefer's going to want to go to at least one more game this season), but I don't know if we could get seats together...?

You guys can only go weekends, right? I can actually trade in one of my tickets for 3 upper deck seats on certain Monday and Tuesday nights when the seats are discounted... can't really work anything special for weekends, but if you ever are thinking of going to a game, just let me know and we could all just go get seats together or something.

Weekends work better, but we could make an evening game without too much trouble. Looking at their schedule, I see a number of 7:05 starts - that would work, especially later in the season when it's a little warmer out.
I've never sat in the upper deck. How's the view from there? I wouldn't mind buying some ground-level tickets if that'll get us a better view.
And I'd love to sit with you and actually have someone answer my questions about the game - Kiefer's less clueless than I am, but frankly, it's a case of the blind leading the blind most of the time. XD

Thanks to fantasy baseball, I've kept up with the sport; yet I haven't been to a single game! :-/
