Weekend, briefly

Gah just taking a mental break a second here.

Saturday, I went to lunch with Carl at Blue C because Ototo doesn't do lunch. Then we went to Uwajimaya to pick up about 7 boxes of mochi ice cream. This took about 3 hours total for both, because traffic downtown sucked (99 viaduct closed, too) and because Uwajimaya is having their anniversary sale. The good part is that everything in the store is 10% off. The bad part is that the lines are long. I think the mochi melted while we were waiting in line.

Afterwards I went to a Seattle Thunderbirds minor league hockey game with [profile] zml, [profile] queendogface, [profile] dvarin, [personal profile] oren, and [profile] genericman. I wrote it up on Marinerds, figuring it's still Seattle sports so it counts. It was Oren's idea to go, and sadly, he nearly missed the faceoff with me because the stupid security people at the key arena decided that "professional camera" is "anything with a detachable lens", and the rest of us bussed, so I ended up having to stash it in Oren's car. Grumble. The Thunderbirds won 2-1 in overtime after the Vancouver Giants goalie literally tripped and fell over and couldn't block a stray puck going into the goal. It was pretty dumb. I did learn a lot about hockey from Jason and Oren though, considering most of what I knew was from playing Blades of Steel as a kid.

Sunday, Carl and I drove out to Redmond, where we met up with [personal profile] rjmccall and [profile] catlyons at [profile] mygrane's apartment, and the five of us plus Christine's friend Joe went to the Red Robin in the Redmond Towne Center for lunch... I hadn't been there since like, Keevon's birthday two years ago, I think, maybe a puzzle hunt afterdinner, either way, it'd been a bloody long time. I think it's funny that I associate Red Robin with DDR people. Anyway, lunch was good, after that Carl and John and Cat and I played Tichu, where Cat and I wiped the floor with everyone -- not sure exactly how that happened. John and Cat left to go back to Portland after that, and Christine and Carl and I sat around talking for an hour or two about all kinds of stuff, mostly game-related (PP, WoW, and then Christine telling us all about the Pokemon she'd just hatched). I started feeling sort of braindead so I drove us home around 6 or so.

I sat down to watch the NLCS game, Cardinals vs. Mets, and fell asleep shortly after Carlos Delgado hit a 3-run homer. I woke up at some point during the game long enough to turn off the TV and go upstairs and change into pajamas, and then didn't really wake up again until 7:50am today. I still feel zonked, though my boss was ecstatic that I made it to work EARLY for the 10am meeting.

And here we are now.

Security tussles over digital cameras peeve me off. It's so arbitrary sometimes.

Next time you're in the Redmond area, let me know. We don't hang out often enough outside of puzzle events :).
