Batting cages!
Oren and I went to the Family Fun Center, or Bullwinkle's, or whatever it's called, down in Tukwila tonight. Oddly, in all the years I actually played DDR, I never went there, and now, several years after quitting, I finally went. I saw the DDR Extreme machine and a DDR USA machine, but didn't really care.
We got helmets and metal bats and a card to use in the batting cage machines, and then... I went first, but there was a malfunction with the machine because the attendant screwed up, so I ended up hitting baseballs at like, little-kid height. It hurt my back and my hands and sort of sucked. Then we fixed it and Oren took his swings; we switched off and I took some swings at slow-pitch softballs.
It was awesome!
Except that the helmets were too big and annoying and about every 2-3 pitches I had to adjust it back up so I could see again.
I paid for another session (it was like $3 for 25 pitches) and swung some more. Oren had told me to stop moving my feet and just swing and drive the ball with the power from my legs and back and all. So I tried that. I think I got some really good swings in eventually.
Wheeeee, I totally want to go back and do more batting cages sometime. I love hitting! It's so much fun. I hope I can shrug off any nerves about it and do okay at our softball match Sunday, though. I'm slotted in to play second base, which I'm psyched about, but I realize that in our fielding practice people rarely threw to anywhere except first base, so it'll be interesting to see how it turns out when we have runners.
Afterwards we watched two epsiodes of the GTO dorama, which we had put on hiatus a couple of months ago due to moving and stuff like that. Of course, we ended up at a cliffhanger at the end of the episode, which means we'll need to watch more soon. Yeah.
