Timing (and cute pictures)

My birthday is this Sunday, May 7th. I'll be twenty-mumble. I'd like to go to dinner somewhere, probly Todai or Osakaya or something like that. I don't know if anyone's actually in town this weekend -- I always have birthdays at the worst time -- but if anyone else wants to come celebrate, it'd be fun. I kind of wish I could go to Mashiko but that might be overextravagant.

I dunno when I'm moving. I did go down and talk to the office today. I packed more boxes tonight! I am super. Tomorrow I should be getting the keys to the new place. Exciting. I'll probably try to move gradually on my own... I wonder how much I can get done and whether I need to hire movers or just try to convince a few people to help me move my couch and bed, since they're the only really huge things I have... we'll see. I think if I could get my hands on one of those carts with wheels to move boxes with, I'd be in reasonable shape.

I had plans today to go walking with Megan and Heidi, so I ended up working from home for the late afternoon to avoid leaving town in the middle of the protest that was going on. After trying to get stuff done remotely a bit, went over to Megan's house, and went for a walk with her and Heidi (and puppy Sampson and baby Matthew). We walked up to a coffee shop by Snappy Dragon. I took cute pictures.

puppy
This is Sampson. He is very cute.

baby
This is Heidi and Matthew. They are also cute.

I guess I could have stuck around at Megan and Josh's house after walking, since Jarrett was coming over and stuff, but instead I came home to pack more. I did stop off at Northgate on the way home and get new running shoes (sadly, New Balance discontinued the 765 so I ended up getting the 766). I got three more boxes packed, another trash bag filled, and a bag of clothes for Goodwill, as well. I also watched the second episode of Gal Circle, which is still really fucking weird, and I watched the first episode of Love Revolution, which is another one of those shows which might hit too close to home. We'll see. It does, at the very least, explain why we couldn't avoid Hirai Ken's song "Kiss of Life" when wandering around Japan in the summer of 2001.

Glorious twenty#{$`%+&th birthday explosion!

Are you still getting over here this year or what?

Too bad you're so busy. The Twinkies really put up a hell of a fight against the Mariners.

New stadium, my booty...

Since you mentioned them, I'll play devil's advocate by mentioning that Pam and I went to Mashiko's on Sunday for omakase. >:) Not a regular thing by any means -- last did so in August.

Am planning to post a list of the courses to my LiveJournal sometime in the next day or two. Took notes during the meal this time, instead of having to try and remember things after.

Er, part of the reason I mention this is that he seems to send a fair amount of the stuff listed as 'in season' on the menu board, when you order omakase. So if you are thinking of going there this weekend, you might end up with something similar to what we had. You could therefore judge whether or not this would be a good thing.

honestly, if i had a choice between 'free, but not very good sushi', and 'expensive, but sublime sushi' i'd choose the latter every time, even if it did mean skimping on other meals during the week. I'd only consider Todai at all because it would mean hanging out with Dee on her birthday. But, given that i can't commit to even being here on Sunday, and that we might have a hard time squeezing all of Deanna's friends into Mashiko, i suppose i have to not argue too much.

And thanks for the picture of my puppy - he does look sweet, doesn't he?

Well, I'm actually going to be up in Seattle *anyways* on Sunday for a PK jam, as long as I find someplace to catch a shower first (I think I might be able to at one of the guys' place I'm meeting up w/) I could do something that day.
