切り抜けただけの Friday ずӖ
Ok, so aside from being laid off, it was a pretty good day. After packing up all my stuff and coming home, and sort of zonking out, I zephyred and LJ'ed etc and told everyone I could think of that I've been laid off. I guess that may not have been entirely wise, but hey, I'm Deanna, my usual reaction to events like this is to tell everyone I know. It's not like people wouldn't have found out when I started looking for a job, right?
After an hour or two I called the CS lounge on a whim looking for Carl, who was there, so I came to campus and hung out with him. I saw Drew, Nick, John, Carl, and more people I'm blanking on. I got a lot of hugs and a lot of "hey, now you can come hang out and play bridge with us all the time". Heh.
We did, infact, play bridge for a while, after hanging out and chatting. It was fun. John was my partner and Drew and Nick were being bridge geeks. Since I am not a bridge geek any more, but have still retained some skill, it was sort of amusing. John and I tended to totally cut down Drew and Nick's contracts, though, which is cool, I'd forgotten how much fun it can be to read your partner really well and come up with some really neat lines of defense.
Nick and I went to get dinner at ToI afterwards. I had some chicken tikka masala, mmm, and some peas and mushrooms, not as mmm. It's always fun to talk to Nick though.
Afterwards I headed over to MMA, because I had said I'd come over to play PPP and celebrate
alternakittyn's birthday and stuff. So I did. Evan was there and his friend Ian, who had brought the Japanese PSX2 over (I just don't want to bring my PSX2 anywhere - for fear it will die). I brought PPP and a controller, and DDR 5th mix. Isaac was there, I guess he decided not to go with the guys to see Brotherhood of the Wolf, and Nasri was there because he accidentally showed up too late to see it with everyone.
We did a lot of Para Para. It was kinda neat. I think we needed one or two more people. 3 people being really into it isn't quite enough (Isaac and Nasri played Go for a while, and Evan goofed off upstairs on his computer. They made me watch "Yatta!" at some point.) It'd be so cool to have another Bemani party sometime so I can get lots of people doing the Para Para moves. Whee. We played a bit of DDR 5th mix and then Carolee's friend Theresa showed up at some point. She was wearing vinyl pants and a tight shirt and it was really funny because she looked kinda like one of the Para Para dancers. (She said she had to do laundry and was totally out of clothes...)
After a while people lost interest in Bemani stuff. I mostly hung out with Nasri and Isaac at that point talking about D&D stuff. As usual they are convinced I am not maxing out my character. Also, Tal's reading of the "bluff" skill is wrong. It takes a "standard action" to do it, and so you can't actually bluff and attack in the same round unless you are either hasted or have the specific feat that allows you to do it. So my character won't be able to do it. Grr.
I watched people play Final Fantasy 10 for a bit, and then went home.
home... late... yawn... want ice cream...
