Mi amiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigo

I set my alarm to wake up earlier for work today, except I set it for PM instead of AM without thinking, so I didn't actually wake up. I hate when I do dumb stuff like that. Today was "give away IDX stuff now that we're GE" day in the lunchroom though, and I got a really nice pen, some mousepads, a paper pad, and a paperweight clock with Seattle and London time, or it would have them if it still had a working battery, which it doesn't.

After work I had a HOT DATE WITH EDGARS! Okay, not really, but [profile] eklynx picked me up from work and we went to Blue C and ate way too much sushi and chatted for an hour or two. I haven't seen him in forever since he went off to the other side of the state, but it's Spring Break this week so he's in town and all. That was pretty fun, Edgars is a cool guy, and it was good to catch up.

I came home, did laundry, played some PP, watched the Johnny's Jimusho new year's special in the background during PP, which was actually a good idea since I mostly was just listening to it anyway. Unfortunately, I now have 青春アミーゴ irrevocably stuck in my head, and probably will for the next few days. I have to admit, though, the part of the show where Tokio and Kinki Kids got together and sang a medley of random Johnny's-band songs going all the way back to Hikaru Genji stuff was pretty cool. I *am* a dork.

The US lost to Mexico 2-1 in the WBC, which of course, means that Japan advances to the final round, which makes me happy, but which is dumb for two reasons: 1) they play Korea AGAIN because the pools are retarded 2) Mexico eliminated THEMSELVES by scoring a run in the 3rd inning or whenever it was. Oh well. [profile] nickjong called me back tonight and we talked baseball for an hour or so, mostly coming to the conclusion that no, I have no idea why Kazuo Matsui sucks.

And now it is late and I have just finished laundry and should sleep. Also, I got the on-call pager again until next Thursday, and this weekend they're going to be doing a bunch of messing around with our computers at work. Bleh.

Now I lay me down to sleep -- pray the pager doesn't beep.

Whoever designed the WBC rankings system needs to be shot. The lousy tie-breaking rules for the NFL playoffs are more straightfoward, and there are so many of those that every team except a handful has a chance at a playoff spot.

What's funny is that I just saw the replay of the home run the umpires took away from Mexico. These guys have been making some big mistakes on runs.

) they play Korea AGAIN

Last night they were running highlights of the Koreans' romp through the leagues undefeated together with a montage of fan response, and I have to say that if I were to judge based solely on those TV reports, I would tell you that they're the most egotistical bastiges I've ever seen.

After their win over Japan in their second game a couple of players ran out and planted a Korean flag on the mound. They planted a Korean flag on the mound. That struck be as being kinda.... rude.
