Perl talks too much.
I set about four alarms this morning between my real alarm and my cellphone and still didn't manage to stagger out of bed at a decent time. As a result I stayed at work relatively late, but it's okay, because I had a major mental breakthrough on a project I'm doing, and now I have Perl feeding data directly into Excel sheets and tabs! Joy! Except it breaks for no apparent reason when I handle too much data! Unjoy! Jack and I went through the code a bit and nothing jumped out at us as obvious, but still, it's sort of like when you've been trying to get two acquaintances to meet and talk to each other, but there's all these mishaps that occur, and finally, they talk, and get along pretty well, until one day one realizes that the other one talks too fucking much and segfaults in their face.
After work, I grabbed a sandwich from Subway, ate it on the bus, and then went to the gym with Megan. I usually do Monday lifting and Wednesday volleyball, but due to Monday Gokusen and Wednesday birthday, I shifted my schedule to Tuesday lifting and today... today I did the leg and knee exercises I usually don't do when I'm there alone, and a little bit of lifting. Then Megan and I went into the big gym area and we passed around a volleyball a little bit because I'd love to teach Megan how to play volleyball. I am a lousy teacher though, and I think Chris and George, or Jensen, or someone needs to come out here. Next time maybe we can shoot hoops for a while or something. It's good cardio!
I came back to their house to see Sampson the puppy a bit more. He's so cute, but he's kind of bitey. But cuuuuuute.
The Mariners are playing their last spring training exhibition game in Tacoma on April 1, so I guess this is a very far in advance heads-up that I will probably head down to Tacoma that day :) They're also playing a game in Portland on March 31, if any of you Portland people want to see them. And whoosh, Fan Fest in only a day or so! Whee!

This made me smile.

Regarding your perl problem, I've had issues like that before where it turned out not to be perl, but the shell pipe or other means of getting the data into or out of perl, that had the data size restrictions.

well, this made me giggle awfully early in the morning.

Totally. I had a fun time, though, so even if all our good friends in Pittsburgh totally ignore this plea, i think i'm going to try and do this with Dee more often. Maybe sometime i'll even get up the guts to play a game.
(Friends in Pittsburgh - come visit. Teach me how to play volley ball. I need you.)
