For those of you (notably nickjong) who I've joked to about this, I finally took a stab at putting together my 2005 All-Cute Team. Man, it's hard to pick out two teams' worth of major league players with gorgeous eyes and dazzling smiles, let me tell you.

(Yes, laurel, you'll be glad to see that four of the AL cute guys are Twins. I think that's the highest concentration for any one team except the five Phillies on the NL side of things.)

Yeah, fuck, typo. Fixed. I wrote most of that at like, midnight-1am last night, so I'm surprised I didn't screw up even more. Though I'd been writing my own "all-cute list" for a while... I had to come up with about 5-6 of those guys on the fly to fill it out to two leagues. I had Kerry Wood in there originally for cute NL righty and switched to Carpenter at the last minute.

Yeah, I really hope Ryan Madson is cuter than his headshot suggest. And yeah, Zach Duke would make my All-Cute Team, too.

I really ought to scan in some of the Phillies magazine I picked up. It features things like Chase Utley and Kenny Lofton at a boxing match (and Lofton's got his Sidekick II), and better pictures of Ryan Madson, and whatnot. Swoon.

You know what's funny? I think I had decided Jay Gibbons was on my all-cute team when I was at a game with you, but then I re-evaluated and decided he wasn't quite. Odd, that.

I fondly remember back when the Phillies were "The team so ugly the turf spits back." Boy, that Kruk sure was a looker...

Hey, even when John "I ain't no athlete, lady, I'm a ballplayer" Kruk was on the team, they had Mickey "Eeny Meeny" Morandini and "Dapper" Darren Daulton to balance him out!

But, no, really. This year's Phillies are really a set of pretty good-looking dudes. They've still got some homely guys to balance it out, but overall they've done a pretty good job of getting a sweet new stadium and a sweet new team. I'd seriously say the Phillies and Twins are the best-looking baseball teams this year, honestly.
