my schedule the next few weekends, kinda
Alright, here's me starting to try to figure out what weekend to do what, in the next few months. Do you want me to come visit you? Do you want to go to a baseball game with me, or just hang out? Speak up! :)
this weekend - nothing planned, but Indians in town (I am going to Friday and Sunday, need someone to go on Sunday with me, was gonna bug
bpr). I'd like to see a movie on Saturday I think, if anyone is up for that, or I wonder if games or Bemani or anything with that crowd is happening? I'm so out of it lately. (I should probably bug
tangerinpenguin about movies though. Hmm.)
August 6 - nothing at all! might either be good weekend for last-minute trip to CA, or more likely, to try to go to the Renaissance Faire (hey
firesplace, you ever figure out when you're going?) It's also the weekend the Dukes of Hazzard comes out, which I really want to see. Oh, and I know at least one person whose birthday is August 5th, too, and I don't mean John Olerud.
August 13 - nothing planned, but the Angels are in town, and I am going to at least that Sunday game if not more, since I have my get-the-Angels-to-sign-my-poster project.
August 20 - my friends Kevin and Michelle are getting married -- hmm, I should probably RSVP already and stop worrying about the whole not-having-a-date thing. nothing planned for rest of weekend.
August 27 - tentatively I am hoping
dvarin comes to visit that weekend, since he better come here sometime between August 9-28 and see the show Princesses with me at the 5th Avenue Theater, goddamnit, and it'd be dumb for him to be here the prior weekend since Oren is out of town then, so it's either the 27th or the 13th. Also, the Chicago White Sox are in town and I am going to go to at least one of the games, because I think they'll win the World Series this year (and I want to see Iguchi-sama play!)
Sept 3 - Labor Day Weekend, and the question is, should I be in town for Bumbershoot? Or should I be in the Bay Area visiting people? Or should I be in Washington DC and/or Philly visiting my family and seeing a Phillies-Nationals game with my little brother? I don't know, but I need to decide soon.
Sept 10 -
nickjong's visiting! Yay. Orioles are in town.
Sept 17 -
laurel's wedding in Minneapolis. Despite how weird it would be to go halfway across the country for the wedding of someone I only know through LJ, I think it sounds like such an incredibly cool wedding that I want to see it. Plus, I could visit the other people I know in the area, and I've never been to Minnesota before, ever! Unfortunately, this is the weekend
hosterman is supposed to give birth, too, but I am sure she'll have her son around for quite a while :)
Sept 23 - My mom comes to town, and stays until Oct 1, which is the next weekend. The Rangers and the A's come to town too.
Okay, after this point I have no idea. I think that I will go visit California sometime in October if I haven't gotten down there by then... gosh, I have a lot of people to catch up with in both major metropolitan areas, though! I also need to get back to NYC over the winter and see Wicked with
bk3c sometime, and I'm guessing I'll probly go to Austin at some point, and then there's my traditional November pilgrimage to Pittsburgh?
My remaining Mariners Season Tickets games: Sun Jul 31 (Cleveland), Tue Aug 9 (Minnesota, anyone want to go?), Sun Aug 14 (Anaheim, anyone want to go?), Mon Aug 29 (Yankees, anyone want to go?), Sat Sep 10 (Baltimore, I assume I'm dragging Nick), Wed Sep 14 (Anaheim, but I may swap this game since it's an afternoon one), Tue Sep 27 (Rangers, I assume I'm taking my mom with me). And of course, I am always up for a game otherwise if anyone ever wants to go to one!
Somewhere in these weekends I need to go down to Tacoma, too, since a) I joked that I only see those guys when I'm unemployed or someone has a birthday, which is lame of me, and b) I have to make Wooko watch Rosencrantz&Guildenstern, and I haven't seen Jeff in forever, etc, etc.
I also kinda want to go hiking again sometime this summer but I have no idea when people ever are going until after they go. Sigh.
Oh, also I guess choir rehearsal will start again around mid-September; I should figure out when that is. Is there anyone in the Seattle area that particularly wants to sing Handel's Messiah? It'd be nice to have another friend in the choir, and I don't particularly expect
jeliza or
thatmathchick to have time for it this fall...
I am usually pretty free on weekday evenings too, I should be more proactive about trying to hang out with people I haven't seen in a while... I'm just so bad at suggesting stuff to do. I'd just tell everyone something like "hey, come eat sushi with me!"

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea, then... since I'm not sure I have any other friends insane enough to go see it.

On the other hand, if you'd like to make a completely painful trip to Canada for lunch, I have a three hour layover in Vancouver on the 6th, and Vancouver airport has some better than average food choices. Plus, you could, I dunno, do other Vancouver oriented things while you were there.

Dee, one thing, Josh like geocaching, and we usually take it easier than i'm prone to when i'm in 'climb every mountain' mode, and its easy to do in an afternoon. So, thats something to suggest, if you want a change from walking around Greenlake.

I'm interested in seeing a couple of the movies you are.
Also, was talking to Colleen and Heidi last night about trying to do more walking with them. Colleen needs the impetus to exercise, and it seems like if we were going to move away from the gym we need to make sure that we have other ways to get exercise.

It's really a tough call for me, because, as I said, they have a bonus for signing up to join for real by the end of this month, which I would want to take advantage of if I'm going to sign up at all.

Maybe we should do a search for other gyms??
Also, remember i'm not about to duck out on you without lots and lots of warning, so we can take an arbitrary amount of time to find a workable alternative.

I will second the suggestion to mail a "I want to go hiking on Saturday". I'd be happy to go and am surprised that I haven't hiked with you after being out here a year.

The problem with me sending out hiking mail is simply that I don't know where to suggest going! I am a big wuss and pretty slow at hills, too.

When I got to Pittsburgh, I used guidebooks to start off with suggestions; got state parks maps to find those with appreciable land area that might have trails; and wandered around, taking random freeway exits with signs to parks and state/national forests.
Standard speed is 2 miles per hour (which includes lunch and water breaks), plus a half-hour every 1000' of vertical rise, but there's no shame in going slower. Just bring along water, snacks, a first-aid kit for blisters and minor scrapes, and a flashlight in case you get stuck out way later than expected.
But really the right answer is to hit up your friends for suggestions. I only do all the organization work because I have no friends so I usually hike alone.

because I have no friends
That is so untrue. I would drop a pile of ducks on you, except you aren't here.

But I might go to DC, so we'll see. I have to talk to my brother. Argh.
