Pie party, and indian food, and swing dancing

Carl is asleep on the couch next to me. He's so adorable. He's also going to kill me if he wakes up and sees this as the beginning of an entry. Hee!

So, today was pretty good too. It started off with me waking up because Carl was cooking pancakes. Mmm, pancakes. Unfortunately, the next thing I did after eating pancakes and drinking hot tea was head over to [personal profile] blk's pie party, which means I really wasn't hungry enough to eat pie. I did, however, see a ton of people and talked to them. Like I got to talk to John Prevost for a while (and Chris Lee) about how my friends in Seattle always talk about them on their WoW clan thingy. And I saw [profile] arashink and [profile] ladysephiroth and caught up with them for a while and talked about baseball... okay, mostly we talked about baseball :) Other people I hadn't seen in ages, like Dave and Susan Nolan, were there, though I didn't get to talk to them much, and Pod and Roxanne. I did finally see [profile] kfcrawford, and I feel really bad that I'm not interested in the tech writing job at her company. Hm... I went outside and took pictures of people blowing bubbles for a while (mostly for Megan's benefit, I got several of Justin and David). [profile] sarahnade showed up with her [profile] drstein but I didn't really get to talk to either of them, come to think of it, oops. I promised them, and [personal profile] bk2w and [personal profile] tshuma, that I will come out to a Disaster House Party sometime this year... though, maybe it's easier if I just come down to the bay area some random weekend and hang out :) I caught up with [profile] zyrain a bit more, and convinced him and others to go swing dancing tonight. Whee! I ended up watching Shrek for a while with Justin and David, and some other people around the living room. David is such a cute little kid, because he keeps telling you what's gonna happen in the movie. "That bird's gonna pop!", he cried excitedly as the scene starts where Fiona's singing in the morning. It was just too cute. Take my word for it.

It turned out that Sheena had a car, so some of us could go to cslounge ToI *and* go swing dancing, whee! So we did exactly that.

Taste of India was pretty fun, we took over the entire restaurant with a big long table for like 17 of us ([profile] buoren, [profile] skydiamonde, [personal profile] rupes, babailey, cce, [profile] zml, [personal profile] rjmccall, [profile] catlyons, [personal profile] soong, [personal profile] chamois, [profile] mj2q, alford, [profile] sheenaqotj, broz, [profile] dvarin, and [personal profile] rehana. Well, and me. I was sitting between Zach and rjmccall. Those of us going dancing later decided we'd split meals. I actually did a great job of this for once -- and probably for the only time ever, came out of Taste of India without awful stomach cramps from overeating. Brian Olson and I split chicken saag and a mango lassi, and with that in addition to the fried appetizers the ToI guys gave us for free (they still love us, even after all these years), that filled me up pretty good. I even only had 2 pieces of naan. Such self-restraint!

Afterwards, Brian and Emilie and Rehana and I piled into Sheena's car, and we all went to Wightman for swing dancing. Emilie and Brian and I stopped back at Barbara's house first, so Brian could change shirts and I could leave my bag there... and we scared her poor babysitter, since Brian had a key and all and she's just like "ack who are all you weirdoes and what are you doing here" and we're like "uhh... friends of Barbara's! honest!" We walked over after that.

Neal, Eric, Benoit, Trey, Barbara, and Dave McCrazySwingDancingWherter were already there, and we were shortly after joined by Cat. If you're counting, that's TWELVE people in our big group. We made up half the crowd there -- no joke -- swing at Wightman is usually on Saturdays, so it was a light group for Sunday. Trey and I got to waltz and it was awesome and wonderful, and Neal and I got to cha-cha and it was also super-duper cool because Neal does the entire CMUBDC repertoire and it was great remembering how to follow all those steps :) Oh, and there was a lot of swing in there too. Brian kept dipping me and it was terrifying but cool. Eric is always fun and bouncy to dance with. Dave and I danced two songs together; I tried to lead him in Foxtrot, but it didn't work well. Benoit and I danced a lot, which was very fun because he's so silly and goofy, and we had this one really classic song after my right ankle started dying and his knee started to give out, where we were just being really silly goofy and making up random steps and stuff, but apparently we amused everyone else... I personally couldn't stop laughing for most of it. That was super-fun. I really liked dancing foxtrot and other such stuff with Trey; he was, is, and will always be my favorite lead. Oh, and I even made Sheena dance with me at one point, mostly to prove to myself that I really can lead Foxtrot. Apparently, I can... I think Dave just sucks at following :)

Yeah! Man, that was super-fun. I wish I could always go dancing with like 12 friends!

Afterwards, we retrieved stuff from Barbara's, and I got a ride back here. Carl showed up shortly afterwards and promptly fell asleep on the floor in the living room. Hee.

Move to the South Bay! We go dancing with that many people that we know (or more) regularly, several of whom you might possibly know.

Mark came back and nearly persuaded me to come back out with him and join you all. I used to go to Wightman with my SO, who didn't really know how to dance but didn't care. He was a good lead, at least, so we never hurt ourselves or anyone else, but we were wonderfully silly. =)

Don't feel bad about the position. When I saw the recent technical jobs on your resume, I realized you were overqualified. I tried to warn them of this.
