Cupcakes, D&D, and new toys

I thought about making an April Fool's post, but I'm just too uncreative right now.

Today was a pretty good day though. I baked stuff in the afternoon again. Cake mixes are extraordinarily cheap at Safeway right now, so it was another cake week. However, I figured making another cake was boring, so this time I'd make cupcakes! Wheee. However, see, I bought some foil cupcake cups the other day -- failing to notice the cake mix said to use paper ones. So I had to run back for paper ones today. Oh well. Anyway, I made cupcakes. When it says "fill the cups 2/3 full", that's so horrendously imprecise that I can't even begin to describe it. It's supposed to make 24 cupcakes, but instead I had like 12 over-filled cupcakes and 9 under-filled cupcakes. And of course, this resulted in my having a whole bunch of leftover icing, even after liberally glorping it onto the cupcakes.

Still, cupcakes. I had no idea that most of the people in my D&D group loooove cupcakes, but now I know, heh.

I got killed in our D&D session tonight. It's all Cory's fault. Our party had been wind walking around the drow city, doing recon (the castle we need to enter is under a Forbiddance), when we get this idea to go check out the desecrated temple of Lloth. So Cory's like "Okay, well, let's materialize and go inside." Immediately we get attacked by an annoying Con-draining undead thingy... which isn't so bad, especially when we find out he can't get inside a Magic Circle against Evil. Except then we find out what summoned him... a Nightwalker. Oh holy crap. This thing is gigantic and has SR 29 and a super-high AC etc etc etc. I usually don't get hit in combat, but since I was really the only thing hurting this thing it kept aiming stuff at me -- first a Cone of Cold at the party, and a few Unholy Blights at us, and then it went for Finger of Death at me (thank gosh I made THAT save!) but the turn after that I failed to get past its SR for a disintegrate ray, and it just melee attacked me. With a critical, it hit me for 93 hit points. I normally only HAVE 77 HP, so, uh, yeah, I died. Stupid Cory! I went downstairs to talk to Megan and Heidi for a while at that point, until Jarrett came down to tell me we'd won the fight and I'd been raised. Oh good.

Oh yeah. So we levelled last session, and I needed to add two 6th level spells to my spellbook. I already had Chain Lightning, Disintegrate, and Greater Dispel Magic in there. So I decided to add Summon Monster 6, and then it came down to -- Acid Fog? Antimagic Field? Contingency? Until we noticed Contingency has an expensive focus, so I'll get that focus and spell next time we get back to a real town, which may not be during this campaign, depending. Antimagic Field is neat, but we realize it may not work 95% of the time for our purposes. (Though I'd enjoy walking up to a spellcaster with it on, and taking out my sword and bashing them upside the head.) So I went with Acid Fog because it feels like what I want Cloudkill to be.

Yeehaw. I came home and I set up the printer/scanner thingy I got yesterday. Wooo, it's neat to have a copier. I was debating scanning my head to show off, but instead I decided to do a cat scan.

I guess that's close enough to an April Fool's joke. Anyway, now I should do some productive things with the scanner. Like copy the stuff I need to file taxes with.
