holy carp! Anyone wanna go see Flogging Molly this weekend with me?

Wow, for once I may actually have good timing with a band. I picked up two of their CDs last night which ROCK, and decided to look up info about them just now, and holy crap, they're playing at El Corazon here in Seattle on Friday and Saturday night! Wow!

I've never been to the place before, and I'm not so much into hustling back to the west side to see a show on a Friday night, so I'm leaning towards Saturday. From what I can tell of their recorded music, they must be AMAZING live -- it's a celtic punk sort of mix of music -- imagine, like, if ALL of Great Big Sea's songs had the energy and speed of "Jack Hinks" and "Helmethead" plus some extra punk in the mixture, you'd have Flogging Molly.

So, yeah. I am toooooooooootally going. This is going to roooooooooock. Who's with meeeeeeeeeeeee?

Celtic Punk? That's a scary thought. I suppose it doesn't help that I don't recognize either Flogging Molly or any of the other three bands that you compared them to.

Oh, no, Great Big Sea is a band, those names in quotes are songs by GBS, which are pretty high-energy.

But, yeah. Celtic punk is really about the closest way I can describe the genre. Just like Great Big Sea is Celtic rock.

Wheee! I'm not sure you need to have heard their music. I'm vastly unfamiliar with most of their songs as well. It's good fun stuff though. I'm gonna investigate tickets later today, I'll let you know what I find out if you're interested.

Hey, I can actually be helpful! I saw them play a short set once, and yes, they're very good live, better than recorded. You shan't be disappointed.

I've only heard one Flogging Molly song, but I really like the track I've heard (Drunken Lullabies). If the rest of their music is that cool, I think I may have to consider this one. I'll let you know ^_^
