Dance Dance Resolution
a) I have really enjoyed being in Massachusetts these past two weeks. I don't want to go back to Pittsburgh. Of course, maybe I enjoyed myself so much because I'm on vacation? Nah... I think except for the part about missing all of my friends in Pittsburgh, I'd love to just stay up here forever and ever. Maybe I can get into UMass for grad school. Or MIT or something, and go to Boston.
b) I forgot to get in touch with some people up here and now it's too late. Oh well... there's always next year. Kinda.
c) Ok, time for some New Year's resolutions.
1) lose weight (ha ha ha ha! ok, so this would be easy if i ever stuck to things, like a DDR dieting routine, or got back into volleyball, or something.. we'll see what happens. I guess the problem is that I keep convincing myself I'm not really overweight enough to truly worry about it, but that's not really true.)
2) get all of this health stuff checked out (ie, find out whether I have PCOS, and figure out what the fuck is up with the stomach pains. Maybe even get more used to having blood drawn (again, ha ha ha ha!))
3) teach Eli to dance (i gave him an ultimatum; if he wants to marry me, we have to waltz at the wedding. Of course, he also told me that if he learns to dance, I have to learn to drive. Hmm...)
3a) learn to drive :)
4) GET THE FUCK OUT OF PITTSBURGH! (sigh.)
5) finish more Java games, publish the code and stuff.
6) get more focused professionally. need better work ethics.
7) write some more creative stuff besides LJ.
8) play a drow elf or an assassin in a D&D game.
9) invite over everybody at some point or another to our apartment for dinner. A corollary is that I should learn to make sushi.
10) go back to Japan again this summer; see a rock concert, play lots of arcade games, maybe do some hiking, and see more of Tokyo and Kyoto that we missed last time (and get the lodging arrangements right this time...)
11) try to get a better ratio of books-i-have-read to books-on-my-bookshelves
12) figure out how to better moderate my video gaming time so I don't drive Eli nuts
13) win a DDR tourney (yeah right)
14) spend more time with people who I will miss when they leave Pittsburgh this year (or when I leave this year?)
15) finish scanning in all of the pictures i should scan in (and distribute pictures to people who I should distribute pictures to)
16) travel travel travel! I want to go to at least one new state or country that I've never been to. I guess I could put Seattle on my list again.
17) work on my music skills more (either really get back into guitar, or maybe go buy a flute or something... oh shit, I have to clean out my euphonium before Kiltie Band restarts)
18) learn or relearn myself up to 600 kanji. retake the Japanese Language Proficiency Test if it turns out I didn't pass it this time. (sigh... won't have the results back until February)
18a) visit sensei-types (hi Carl... y'think?)
19) get my "i shouldn't have said that" response down to -1 second, so i continue to stifle myself from saying things i shouldn't say.
i'm sure there's more, but I don't feel like thinking about it. time to read more (i'm 15 pages from the end of The Two Towers) and go sleepy. Tomorrow's the last full day here, unless we decide to go home Sunday instead...
