I am back. Hear me roar.

Alright, so I'm back in Seattle, sitting at my computer. Chris gave me a ride home from the airport, which was nice of him considering his family's in town and he should be spending more time with them.

In creative irony, I got back, sat down at the computer, and my first email in my hotmail inbox is "Travelocity highlights cheap flights from Seattle to Pittsburgh!" Sigh.

I finished reading The Three Musketeers on the plane. Actually, devoured is more like it, since it was a 5 or 6 hour plane ride and I finished 400 pages of it. I really do enjoy reading works by Dumas, he's really wonderful, and now a certain friend of mine has to go read The Count of Monte Cristo in return, I think. But, anyway, I loved how everything came together at the end -- the only thing I don't get is how the heck... hmm, how to give it away for anyone who hasn't read it. How the heck the main villainous character survived being hanged in the first place. I had half expected Rochefort to actually turn out to be the "brother" of said main villain from that scene, and I'm glad he wasn't. I also kind of wonder what actually happened to Kitty (since I am assuming she and Constance are not the same).

Anyway. Good book. Go read it if you haven't. Nice break from baseball histories. :)

Today was a decent day to travel, honestly. There was absolutely no line at security or ticketing in Pittsburgh, and barely anyone on the plane on my PIT->PHL flight. There were more people on the PHL->SEA flight, though nobody sitting in the B seat, and I had the window A seat, which was good. My flight was delayed half an hour in Philly, but it worked out okay, since I got to grab a cheesesteeak. Hmm... so today I got up, got ready, spent a little time with the family, then I (don't tell my mom... oh wait, she reads this! har!) stopped by Beaver Valley Mall very briefly to get fuel for the car and to get lunch since I realized I was ravenously hungry when I left, and I kind of wanted Chick-Fil-A since we don't have them here. I walked by Arcade 2000, and, hey, WAIT, incase of any of you Pittsburgh DDR players don't know this already, Arcade 2000 now has a BEATMANIA III 7th Mix machine to go with their DDR Extreme and DDR 7th Mix. Now can I explain the importance of this? You guys have in Pittsburgh the equivalent of what we have in Washington of Beatmania machines. I am not kidding - our only Beatmania machine is also a III/7th down in Tacoma. Oh yeah, and long-haired Chris still works at the arcade and he was all like "dude! deanna! where the heck have you BEEN?!"

Uh, yeah.

Thursday was Thanksgiving. I woke up in the morning and had to say goodbye to Mark, and then I drove out to Beaver, to my step-grandparents' house. Mom and Nevin met up with me there and drove out to aunt Debbie's house, where Thanksgiving dinner actually was. She lives in this adorable little house that she's mostly done all the woodworking and whatnot on herself, and she's an artist, so it's just full of cool stuff all over the place. I had a lot of fun talking to my stepgrandparents, they're really neat people, and they were like "Did you know that kid from CMU who won lots and lots of money on Jeopardy?"

We had a huge dinner, at 2:30pm or whatever, lots of yummy food, and after that people sat around talking for several hours. I started sort of falling asleep around 6-7pm despite my best attempts and coffee, so I went upstairs and took a nap until 9, when it was time to eat some pie and go back to the the other house. It was REALLY cold out, and snowing off and on, too. We watched some TV and sat around some more, and I went upstairs to the attic, where I was staying. I couldn't get a wireless signal, and my phone wasn't doing so hot either, so I ended up going to sleep at like 11:30pm eastern, even after all that napping. Whee.

Beaver is such a cute little town. I swear it hasn't changed in like ninety billion years. It's very charming, and it's nice to visit, but I could never live out there. Staying up in the stepgrandparents' attic room made me feel like a little kid again, they have all these old toys and books up there, including a 1948 encyclopedia, which is pretty fascinating to look through.

Also, to leave on an interesting image, the highways outside Philadelphia curve around each other on multiple levels such that some interchanges resemble a treble clef from the air.

I liked the Three Musketeers a lot. I read it in 10th grade. I liked it so much I followed up with The Count of Monte Cristo, which is also great! I didn't care for the Man in the Iron Mask though. Maybe a different translation? I know Mike didn't like the Three Musketeers as much because he felt that that narrator was talking down to him (if I am remembering correctly from 1992). But he read a different translation than I did.

Oh, my - I've never played Beatmania - how hard is it to pick up? Any tips on what to start with (songs, levels, which body part to put where)?

Oh, and they moved the PPP machine from the Destinta - I have to find out where the video game company that owns it is going to put it next. Must play some more....

;) All yer fault ya know - but you're a GOOD enabler.
