this entry is mostly about games
Due to Chernabog and I actually being on good terms again, I find myself up until 4am swordfighting and foraging and chatting with him. Bleh, maybe it was better when we hated each other.
Tonight we had D&D at H&C's house. We got Pagliacci's pizza, which made me all happy. We started working through the part of the drow city that was under Guards and Wards. Got into one room, where we stumbled on a major drow illusionist who basically killed Cory in one shot with Phantasmal Killer. Fortunately, we wasted the guy and I got his spellbook and now I can learn it! Woo. His spellbook was pretty badass with stuff up to 6th level, but no Guards and Wards. We rested, then went shopping in Waterdeep (now I know Teleport, so we can actually GO places). We cashed in all our stuff from the last few months of dungeon-crawling, and each person got around 26k to spend. Woo. I got (yes, Carl, your suggestion) a Ring of Wizardry I for 20k, and a Hairband of S-M-R-T for 4k (a headress of Intelligence +2 or whatever) and a wand of Cure Light. The funniest part is that between the int increase and the ring of wizardry, I now get something like 12 first-level spells. Fear me.
We came back to scour the rest of the Guarded and Warded area, got up to the second floor of it, which turned out to have a classroom, and then another room with a Magic Circle Against Evil on the floor, holding some sort of creature invisibly inside. The creature told us to free it and it'd slay the drow, which we laughed at, and then out of nowhere a male drow wizard teleports into the room. Rather than attacking us, he says something like "So, like, I know you guys are here to stop the raids. I don't give a shit about you OR the raids. Leave me and my magic school alone, and I won't kill you."
The rest of the party was kinda into the idea of wasting him anyway, but me being a wizard, and being declared Chaotic Neutral, was kinda like "Wait, dude, that sounds kinda cool. Let's talk." The guy explained this whole thing about how there were all these idiot nobles fighting with each other who were actually behind the raids blah blah, so why don't we go kill the nobles instead? He gave me two scrolls of Greater Dispel Magic, which is rad, and I convinced the rest of the party that this was a good idea. Much to Justin's dismay, since he really wanted us to fight a 17th (18th?) level wizard and his summoned Vrock.
something that makes me happy is when I make a really silly joke and the guys all laugh at it for a minute or two. that's always good stuff.

I drive my DM crazy with teleport. We take sidetrips, and hop around the adventure all the time. It's fun to watch his eyes when you teleport into a location he totally does not expect. :)
