nichi-bei yakyuu~~

Aaaaahhh the Nichi-Bei All-Star series is underway! What I wouldn't give to be in Tokyo this weekend... They've got an absolutely precious picture on there of Michihiro Ogasawara and Manny Ramirez. And Alex Cora with some Japanese schoolchildren. And Roger Clemens and Manny and some others in traditional Japanese outfits breaking open a barrel of sake.

And apparently Roger Clemens outpitched Koji Uehara last night. They're both such great pitchers. Wheeeeeee. Gaaah! I'd just give anything to be able to watch these games!

The odd thing, looking at the roster, though, is that the MLB team has a few Japanese players on it (Ishii, Otsuka) but the NPB team has no gaijin players on it. I would have vaguely expected them to at least put on Alex Cabrera and Tuffy Rhodes... I mean, none of those guys are bad, but I vaguely expected to see, like, Yoshinobu Takahashi, or Nobuhiko Matsunaka, or Hiroki Kokubo, or even Yoshitomo Tani (the pride of the post-Ichiro Blue Wave). I am glad to see Shima (the Hiroshima Carp's "new Godzilla") on the team and it'll be good to see what he can do against MLB pitching. And of course they picked some great catchers, I adore Furuta the way I adore Pat Borders. And if Ogasawara wasn't on the team it'd be a major WTF. But still.

(Okay, and in fairness, Shinjo is NOT on the team :)

aaaaiiieeeeee. I'm literally twitching over this though.

[profile] the2belo - they're playing in the Nagoya dome on Friday the 12th! you HAVE to go so I can experience the game vicariously through you! aiiiieeee!

okay, maybe I should calm down.

I don't really have anything to say about yesterday. It was a long day at work installing Visual Studio and then trying to build code and then fixing our docs about building on Windows. Some other stuff happened, I guess.

Heh. You know I'd be there in a hot second if I could convince my workplace to let me out of there in time.

I'll probably catch the brunt of the people coming back on the subway, though.

Also, if you read my last two entries, I thank whatever deity is currently in charge that I am not in Tokyo this weekend. :P

Yeah, I spent three days in Tokyo and have no desire to go back.

But Suzuka I'm looking forward to next year. :)
