Sunday/Monday
And back to the basic step. Sigh.
Well, anyway. Sunday after I got to Philly, I went over to the Gallery with the intent of getting a Kevin Millwood #34 Phillies shirt, and some boxes of tastykakes, and maybe some small lunch. I failed at all of them, unless you count getting a 3-pack of krimpets, which I wolfed down while walking back to my dad's place... a homeless guy was like "ooooh, can I have some Tastykakes?" and in a split second since I was eating the second of 3 I grinned and said "SURE!" and handed him the 3rd one and walked off. He looked really confused.
Ben (
bk3c) called me and came and picked me up and we drove to South Philly. Parking in South Philly is fun. Walking around South Street with Ben is super-fun. We went into all the old fun places like Showcase and Tower and whatever. Sadly there are no longer any bookstores on South Street, which bums me out. We spent a long time in Tower talking about music and picking out CDs for each other, just like the old days! Yay Ben.
So, I was supposed to meet up with some PP folks at 7pm at Jim's, but Ben and I got there at 5:45 and I waited in line with him and I was starved and so I decided to just go ahead and get a sandwich when we got to the front of the line at 6:20 or so. So I did. We went upstairs to eat and the cheesesteak was so yummy 'cause I'm just all Philadelphian like that.
Got done around 6:40 and went outside to see if anyone was there yet... and sure enough I saw (from here on in I refer to people by PP names) Indeed standing there, since I know her from previous trips... and then I saw a pair that I guessed were Spotty and Julephene, and I was right... and it turned out Demonyaj was also standing there but didn't know who anyone else was. So whee. I said bye to Ben and then hung out with people outside waiting for our last two folks to show up, Fronsac and Garnot. Well, after Fron showed up we all decided "it's cold, let's go indoors somewhere", and since I'd had my cheesesteak and most people didn't really care for one, we ended up at the South Street Diner, where Garnot eventually came and found us.
So we hung out there for a very long time and just talked about tons of random PP stuff. I suppose that's honestly the best way to describe it. It was neat to meet Spotty since we used to be comanagers at the Turtle shops. And it wasn't too traumatic to see Fronsac again no matter what he may think, and always nice to see Gar, and even Indeed, and Jule is very hyper, and Demon-J reminds me of someone though I can't place who.
Afterwards we went and took some pictures of us all, and of us all at Wawa with Tastykakes as our "We love you Nemo, shame you're NOT HERE" shots, and then the two Jasons and I stood around talking for a while and then the Fronsac one gave me a ride home. And I tried to play PP but totally fell asleep instead.
Today I woke up at 11am east coast time and pretty much just walked over to Lee's Hoagie House to get lunch... yet another thing about being a Philadelphian is that I understand that the only true sandwiches in the world are hoagies made in Philadelphia. And damn are they good. Mmm, hoagies. Uh, and I couldn't find birch beer anywhere so I ended up getting diet birch beer. Sigh.
At that point I pretty much had to get onto the train to the plane, so Dad walked me to Market East and stood with me on the platform and I got on the train, and it went to the airport, where the security line was horrendous, but I got through in one piece and then got on the plane. The plane's movie was Spider-man 2 but this time headsets weren't free so I didn't bother with it. I did sleep for like 2 hours, and I read Damn Senators which was really good and I cried at the chapter where they finally win the World Series. That book took me almost the entire awake part of the plane flight.
Then I got off the plane and into my car and drove to Quiz night, where we had 7 people since Ficus's girlfriend Katie was visiting. They had a category of "US Geography" where all the questions were something like "If I am standing in the middle of Louisiana and go north through one state, what is the state I am in now?" It was pretty obnoxious. We didn't do so hot overall - we DID get the bingo, but so did 6 other teams and we didn't do the tiebreaker.
On the other hand, I did get to see the last few innings of the Sox-Yankees game. GO SOX! Wooooo! Also the last part of the Houston-Cards game. Hehe.

That was one of my favorite things to do with my friend Kevin, and now I'm all nostalgic and like: "I should call up Kevin, so we can do that again!" I blame you.
Thanks.
So, uh...
Re: So, uh...
Just means I need to see you again some other time this year, right?

Hm, I haven't been to New York in a long time.
