happy notes, sad notes

I've majorly overslept my alarm clock the last two days, which makes me worried.

Yesterday we had D&D. I for once had a moment where I *should* have indiscriminately dropped a fireball down a hole and didn't. It proved to be a good fight anyway. I've been reconsidering my character and can't help but wonder if perhaps I should have just been just a wizard... ahh well. I still forgot to bring a whiteboard marker, so my spell board was useless.

In PP, my experiment in not speaking to Chern has been going pretty well. Been about three days now. Weaver's been sailing with me instead, mostly. He helped me move my cutters up to Luthien and do some trade runs and just kept company, which is so nice of him. I also got to sail with Ayli, and later with Rome, to do two totally different sides of the spectrum.

One day until the Mariners game tomorrow night. Ichiro just got his 256th hit, I REALLY hope he breaks the record at home instead of in front of those disrespectful Oakland fans.

Two days until I go to California.

On a family note, and a somewhat sadder one, today's my father's 61st birthday. I was about to send him an e-card this morning to wish him a happy birthday and all, and call him later tonight, except I got email from him this morning saying my great-aunt Sylvia passed away today. (I knew she had a stroke and was in the hospital but I was trying not to worry about it.) It's a little weird for me since I was never close to her per se BUT she has *always* been around for every family event for as long as I can remember... it's my grandpa's sister-in-law... I can't imagine what this is going to do to my grandpa though. He still cries over my grandma's death and now his brother will be in the same position. Sigh. And two weeks before my brother's wedding, too... bleh.

I have two alarm clocks here (I'm paranoid the typhoons will knock out the one that plugs in); maybe you could try that.

Sorry to hear about your great-aunt.

Have fun in California. I want to go someday. Mike (fellow teacher) is from there, so maybe he'll have me over sometime. :)
