rest of the week -- baseball, D&D, etc

Tuesday was pretty busy for me.

I went to the Mariners game in the afternoon. I had seats about 11 rows behind where the next batter stands there swinging to get ready to go up to the plate. Cool stuff. There were relatively nice people sitting near me too, except the tall guy in front of me who kept ruining all the pictures I tried to take. Anyway, the game itself was just crazy... Joel Piniero gave up 8 runs in the 4th inning which pretty much sealed it, but you know, the Mariners did manage to get 7 runs, which is more than they usually do... And in the 9th they even had 2 men on base with no outs. But alas, it was not to be. I feel kinda bad because I was vaguely excited to get to see David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez hit back-to-back home runs... and amused every time Johnny Damon came up to bat... and so on.

The other thing is that Red Sox fans just come from ALL over and are very loud. So half the time you can't tell if something good or bad happened when you hear the cheers...

One good part about the game was that the Mariners pitching staff got 11 strikeouts, and therefore, tickets for free soda! Yay! Actually, even better, I scammed two of the free soda tickets. Hee. One had Hasegawa on it and one had Ryan Franklin, and since Hasegawa was one of the pitchers in the game, maybe I'll save that one and ditch the other.

The game ran pretty late and by the time I got the buses and made my way home (stopped off at the Westlake Starbucks for iced tea because I was parched and had no water, DAMN it was hot out) it was a little past 7pm. Oops. So I took a quick shower, got my books together, and headed over to Megan and Josh's house.

So we're gonna be doing the City of the Spider Queen or something like that adventure. Justin is running it. Josh is going to be a cleric, Cory's gonna be a rogue, Mike's gonna be a half-orc monk or something, so I'm... well, I'm gonna be an Eldritch Knight. I'm afraid to be a full fledged mage because I'll get squished, but I don't really want to be a fighter either, so hey, I'm both. I'm like Ftr1/Wiz6/Eld3 or something like that, so I'm not perfect, but for a 10th level char I have semi-decent HP (55), decent spells (8th level wizard's worth, so like up to 4th level), and decent base attack (7/2, which is a step above a full wizard's +5 or the rogue's +6/1). So we'll see. In my normal trend of "masquerade" characters, this is going to be an elven wizard masquerading as a fighter in the army, essentially...

Okay, so anyway, Wednesday and Thursday are mostly a blur to me. Wednesday I did go out for a little bit just to play DDR at Sunset (5 greats on Keep On Movin' is my only thing to mention) and to go grocery shopping. Thursday, I did head over to IZ for a bit tonight wherein I played a bunch of PNM and PPP and that's about it. (I passed Pops Remix! WOOOO!)

I did clean up the apartment a decent amount. OH! And I have a job interview on August 2 right after I get home from Otakon! Wheee. It's at a little company on the east side, for a C++ SDK documentation writing position... I'm not sure even whether I want the job or not but it'll be good to get in the swing of interviewing again.

Bleh, so I'm gonna go fall asleep in the Jorvik blockade and then pick up Carl from the airport in a few hours. Whee.
