Wednesday - Shopping pt 2 and more mariners
I'm doing my entries by backlog, whee.
Wednesday June 9th... I was going to go to the game night in Redmond, but since the brewpub is being remodeled, it got cancelled. So, depsite that I'd switched my wed tickets for tue tickets, I decided to go to the Mariners game anyway.
But first I went to Crate&Barrel in University Village, where I found a yellow apron. Yay! I returned the original stupid apron to JC Penney's and then hopped on a bus downtown to Safeco.
Got to the ticket window. Asked what their best single seat was. It wasn't good enough, so I got a seat in the left field bleachers, and a scorecard, and a hotdog and pretzel, and went to watch the game. I'd never sat in the bleachers before. My take on them is that they are better than the outfield bleachers at Japanese stadiums (they have seat backs) but worse than the normal seats. Left field is $13 and view reserved infield is $17.. I think the four bucks cheaper isn't worth it unless you get row 1 of the bleachers so you can look down into the bullpen.
But, being in the outfield does mean that when Randy Winn makes an amazing catch 1 foot beyond the center field wall, you get quite a good look at it. It's also easier to see where the ball comes across the plate and whatnot. But it sucks because you can't see the outfield scoreboard at all, so you don't see pitcher stats, etc.
The game itself was pretty cool. Freddy Garcia struck out 9 batters! Infact, he pitched marvelously except ONE inning where he gave up 3 runs, but sadly the Mariners never got any runs themselves, so he lost. I was spending half the game talking to
genericman on AIM on my Sidekick actually, which was kind of amusing. I was like "Bagwell doubles... 2-0..." Whee. Anyway, the upshot is, Freddy struck out enough people that we all got tickets for 2-liters of Pepsi at Safeway!
The irony is of course... did I want to keep the ticket as a souvenir, or actually get my free 2-liter?
After the game I went to Sunset for a few rounds of DDR, where I ran into DJ... and so then I went to safeway and I got my 2-liter. I figured, hey, what the heck, might as well use the ticket, y'know? But it was kind of a tough choice. Especially since it was a Freddy game and the strikeout Pepsi ticket had Freddy on it. Oh well.
