Sigh, my first Mariners game of the year and they lose
So, yesterday I went and picked up Jason/Fronsac from the airport.
Nothing catastrophic has happened yet. We walked down to Red Mill and got burgers for lunch. They were good. We walked back and hung out here for an hour or two. I kept threatening to kill him, but as of yet have not done so.
We went to the Mariners game last night. It was great and depressing. My seats aren't too bad. Meche got hit for a run in the first inning and it all went downhill from there. I was really glad to see Olerud hitting well. The A's pitcher, Tim Hudson, a really good pitcher, hit THREE batters... the first two were Olerud and Martinez, which makes sense because hey, who cares if the slow guys get on base, but... the third was Ibanez and he ended up scoring; I shouted "THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR HITTING A FAST GUY!" The Mariners managed to tie the game in the 7th inning when they pinch hit Dave Hansen for Ben Davis. The guy comes in and POW! smacks a 3-run home run over the right field wall. Apparently he already holds the record for most pinch-hit home runs in a season... He's our replacement for Greg Colbrunn, I guess.
Anyway, sadly, top of the 9th, Myers allows two guys on base, gets taken out, Shigetoshi Hasegawa comes in, and his FIRST PITCH is slammed out into the outfield, driving in two runs. Ugh. I was so excited to see Hasegawa pitching, too :(
Arthur Rhodes is the closer for the A's now, which is very weird, but he seems to be doing pretty well at it. Wow, it's weird... Rhodes-Nelson-Sasaki who started as the Mariners bullpen at the beginning of 2003 are now all over the place (Oakland, Texas, Yokohama). How wacky.
Came back here; I pillaged with my PP crew for a bit while Jason played games on his GBA.
Now it is today. I'm going to work on cleaning up this damn apartment a bit and listen to the afternoon Mariners game on the radio; we have no plan for the rest of the day really, so if anyone wants to hang out, feel free to call; maybe I'll go try to bug people later.
