Carnival, Day 1
So, I went to the airport... ran into Eric Leese, that was cool, he was on the same SEA->Charlotte->Pittsburgh flight I was.
My seat on the Seattle->Charlotte flight was all the way in the very last row so the seat didn't go back and it was stuffy and I was in a middle seat, so, I didn't sleep at all, which sucked. Got to Charlotte and couldn't fall asleep in the airport; got on the next plane and had a row to myself and stretched out on the seats and STILL COULDN'T SLEEP. Ugh.
I took the 28x bus to CMU; spent the time talking on AIM to Charlie and Carl instead of sleeping, since I'd given up by then.
Got to the lounge; saw Rem and Alisa and people. Charlie showed up and we went across campus to grab indian food for lunch. I saw many other people in the afternoon before that; jcreed showed up and I hug-swamped him; Kirstin and Tim showed up and I ended up playing Tichu with them and Rem for a while; eventually Mygrane and Dracai showed up and I wanked about Puzzle Pirates with them. Christine was officertraining Dan (Platypus) and I couldn't help but think how much EASIER it must be to do officer training when you can actually TALK to the person rather than just typing to them and all. Lars took over for me in Tichu so I could talk PP; I'd been mostly talking baseball with Tim anyway.
Kiltie concert at 3:30. Ran into rkane and dac4 and others out on Midway. (Was pretty funny, I was like "Excuse me, I have to tackle someone" and ran over and hugged Mark from behind and he couldn't figure out who it was and then when I finally let him see who I was he actually seemed happy to see me. har. Dave thought it was pretty funny too I think) Then went to the concert, sat with the old Kiltie people; Katherine, Tim, me, Laurel, Marybeth, and behind us were Clinton and Nick, and Larry Greenfield showed up too, and it was like one big happy reunion. The concert was pretty good, they mostly played stuff I had played before, and a few new things. At one point during one of the new songs they got really quiet and then some people still building their booth ran their powertools... it was pretty odd... Mr. Gerlach was like "I didn't cue the drill to come in, I don't know how they figured out their entry!"
Saw many many many people after that and eventually ducked out to Wean to hide for a bit. Ben and Aiton came and picked me up from Wean and we went to Monroeville Olive Garden for dinner with people (around the table from me: Aiton, Pam, Kat, Jesse, Ben, Laurel, Megan, Bryan, James C, and Trey). It was really good to see all of them again. Trey hadn't heard about all of the stuff in my life and he was like "But you don't seem sad" and I'm like "How can I possibly be sad when I am surrounded by such a great group of people?"
Ben and I still can complete each other's sentences, which should probably scare me more than it does. (I mean, I've been friends with he and Aiton for like 14 years now? Whee.)
Um, after that I got a ride to Carl's apartment.. where I basically said hi to Carl, gave him some stuff from Japan (He will know better from now on to ask me to bring him a kaitensushi restaurant), and... fell asleep, since I'd been up for 30 hours or so. At 9:30pm. I meant to get up at 1am for Puzzle Pirates OCL but didn't actually awaken until 2:30am, at which point Carl was asleep anyway, so I IMed a few people on my phone and went back to sleep, not really waking until around 9:30am. Oh well.
I'm in Wean now. Apparently I can log into PP from here, so that's good to know. Though, I shouldn't. So. Anyway, time to go find people, see mobot, and maybe get lunch?
