japan trip 2 day 1 wheeeeee
So, I'm in an internet cafe in Ikebukuro. It's called "ManBoo"... some sort of weird play on yahoo and manga... I dont get it but Im not going to complain. Unfortunately, the arcade that DJ and I used all through our last trip to check email and send LJ and whatnot... theyve remodelled a ton, so (ATTN JAMES) the basement no longer has computers NOR does it have a DDR MAX machine. grrrr! That sucked to discover. So I wandered through the neighborhood until I saw a 24-hour internet cafe. I guess I may be here a lot this week...
The layout of these keyboards annoys the crap out of me so Im just going to type without apostrophes and whatnot. So there!
Anyway. Met up with Nykkel at the airport, we got on the plane, but werent sitting together... he read books and did crosswords apparently, and I watched School of Rock three times and listened to Disney music and I also saw a movie called... uhh... Shattered Glass or something? I liked School of Rock a lot though! Most of the other movies werent interesting to me. Well, Master and Commander had pirate ships but eh.
We got here on time. My cellphone works as a PDA but doesnt have any service at all. Not entirely unexpected :) We got through the airport fairly quickly, did customs, got baggage, changed money... got on the Keisei line and it took an hour to get to Ueno and then another 15 minutes to get over to Ikebukuro on the Yamanote... got to the Kimi... checked in... I dont have as cool a room as last time (and Robert tells me the showers suck on our floor, too, guess I'll find out tomorrow). I looked through my Tokyo book and tried to nap a little but failed.
We went out and got katsu curry for dinner!! YAY! Oh, if DJ is reading this, or not, someone tell him they apparently knocked down the building with the little tiny kaiten sushi place near the station. doh! After that we walked to east Ikebukuro, where we looked in on Moai (Currently it has one DDR machine, 3 IIDX 10ths, ****SIX**** popnmusic 11ths, and some assorted DM9 and GF10 machines. Wooooooo, i love that place ;) We also checked out the Sega arcade, where I played a game of Taiko no Tatsujin 5, and we walked through St. Tropez (same stuff, different layout), and walked through GEO and some other stores. Then went back to Moai for a few games of PNM. I cant find "konya mori wo nugete" or whatever my favorite jazz song by Sana is, dammit. Did find White Eve and other stuff though. I looked through their Bemani notebooks and found the note I wrote back in September, how neat!
Anyway, not much to report yet. I should go try to call
the2belo and Aaron and people tomorrow and make plans. And right now im gonna go look into baseball ticket availability. I already feel like I suck at Japanese but at the same time like I'm regaining all of my lost language skills at the same time. Arr.
i wont be reading friends pages while im here. I will read my page, comments to my page, my email at hotmail, and thats about it.
gonna head back to the ryokan after this and sleep. Its 11pm here, which means its 6am in Seattle, which is about the time i usually fall asleep anyway, right? heh.
bye guys. more tomorrow or whenever!
