This entry is about baseball, puzzle pirates, and wings

Dude. Where the *scup* is everyone I work with today? I can't find anyone to answer my questions. We barely got 4 people to go downstairs for lunch. There was a gorgeous rainbow over the city skyline that we got to see. And my group is moving back to the International District building in the next few weeks... I'm happy and sad over that. It'll cut 30 mins a day off my commute time, but on the other hand, I'm really kind of regretting that I still haven't overcome my coworker shyness enough to get to know people in this building.

Ack, Nippon Ham traded Tatsuya Ide to Yomiuri for a left-handed pitcher who was injured for all of last year. Sigh. Well, on the other hand, Ide in CF next to Takahashi in RF would be a pretty nice combination for the Giants, who could use better defense in the outfield anyway (and now they won't have to consider moving Takahashi to center). Still, I guess that means my earlier comment about moving Ide to left when they put Shinjo in center is a moot point. I wonder who they'll get to play left then?

"The [Hiroshima Carp] team's 2004 slogan will be, 'Will to Victory.' It should be, 'we'll try to stay out of last, honest!'..."

On the other hand, the Mariners just signed contracts with Randy Winn and Ryan Franklin, both of which are going to be good for the team, I think. (I still think Ryan Franklin's 11-13 record last year was nowhere near indicative of how well he actually pitches.)

I forget if I'd mentioned that Spinn, Jammer and I split the costs evenly on buying a war brig for our crew. We got it Tuesday, and took it out on a huge party pillage. God, that was awesome. The boat has 16 cannon on it, and Spinn and I raced to see who could fill 8 of them quickly. It was crazy fun and we got a ton of money, so last night I also convinced Spinn to take it out. I love the war brig, I really do. You get lots of jobbers, lots of pillage, lots of fun with it. Only problem is needing at least 5-6 crew members on it to start manning it before we get jobbers.

Lejerque wrote a song about cannonballs and sang it to me! Har!

I've done the Alpha-Horseshoe-Alpha (aka the Leushite and Red-Brigand-Attack) run twice in two days now. Tuesday I had all newer people and recruited a new crew member ("You're witty and know how many letters are in the word 'you'. Wanna join our crew?"), and yesterday I had Arbitrage and Parka and and [profile] eiriene and such on board. Arbitrage actually hadn't seen me command a boat *ever*, since I joined the flag towards the end of Azure relatively -- afterwards she said a lot of really nice things about my officering/commanding style. I do make an effort to treat jobbers well and to fight my hardest in battle, so it's all good.

The funniest is that I considered just asking Parka if he wanted a job, but instead, when I saw him looking at the job posting board on Alpha, I posted a job, and 2 seconds later he applied to it. I love jobbing Parka, because he's so good at everything, and so funny when he keeps getting dogpiled and dying first in battle.

Oh, I almost forgot another funny part. So Cleaver was standing behind a statue on the docks at Alpha. At one point I got a /tell from him saying, "Nice rainbow." And I was all like "Wow, thanks!" but had no idea where he was. Later I went to say hi to Wizzo and invite him to join up on our war brig party, and I make a circle with him to say so... only to find out he's already in a circle chatting with the invisible Cleaver :) So I'm like "Well, I was going to invite Wizzo out, but d'ye want to come too, Mr. Cleaver?" Har!

So Eli and I went to the Wingdome last night with Megan and Josh, since I realized I hadn't really had wings since leaving Pittsburgh. (We used to go semi-regularly to a place on Carson Street called Fathead's, which had fabulous cheap wings in all sorts of varieties.) Wingdome has a place up on Greenwood and 80th or so, which is really near us, so we went there.

The wings we got were the BBQ, the Buffalo lvl 3, the Big Cheese, and the whatever-honey-mustard-etc Bayou ones. The honey mustard ones were too sweet and bland. The cheese ones were pretty good. The BBQ ones were also pretty good. I'm not a big fan of normal Buffalo wings but these were decent. We finished off 56/60 wings with 4 people, although I'm pretty sure Josh and I both polished off more than our fair share of 15 each. Yarrrr. So, the good thing is that Wingdome is nearby and has decent wings. The bad thing is that they don't have enough variety to make me happy. There's only like 7 flavors... most places in Pittsburgh had at least a dozen flavors of wings.

Afterwards, people hung out at our house for a little while, but since it was already 10pm they ended up going home instead of doing anything else. Still a good evening, I think.

Yesterday I got a free ticket at work to go see LOTR on the 17th... at 8am. I wonder if I'll actually wake up for it.
