rkane) and I OWNED capture the flag with stuff tonight.
There was a pretty big turnout as usual, although the kernel being due for Operating Systems at midnight kept at least a few people from playing. I went upstairs and sat with Mark and Neil and Derek and Lacey and all, and the rules review was long and silly, and then we split into teams, and although I usually just go on defense so I don't have to run much or go outside, Mark was going on offense and I decided on a whim to join him.
DUDE, it rocked. I was like the perfect decoy... we'd go in and if defenders showed up I'd be all like "TAG ME! TAG ME! I AM SLOW! YARR!" and get tagged and sent to jail while everyone else went in looking for the flag. It did mean I had to spend an enormous amount of time in jail under the... guidance... of Dave Kaplan, which is disturbing at best, but hey. I got to see Kirstin a lot, and Kevin, and I met a few of the new freshmen, and talked to people, and whatnot. The first game it was really close, they had gotten 2 of our 3 flags, and for the last jail break period, I went in with Mark and everyone again, and this time we saw Matt Ghio in the front of Doherty and I was all like "Tag me tag me!" as the rest of the gang made their way into the staircase. Well, I spent another ten minutes in jail, but apparently in the meantime Mark got their 4-point flag :) So we had 7 points in two flags to the other team's 6 points and won.
Second game... I PERSONALLY RECOVERED A FLAG FOR MY FIRST TIME EVER IN LIKE 15 GAMES OF CTF. It was so cool! We went in through NSH to storm the 4th floor, and well... a bunch of defenders showed up and I was all like "TAG ME TAG ME" but in the end, there were two defenders and 3 people so I basically... walked off. Down the hall. Down the staircase at the end of the 4100 corridor... to the 3rd floor. Allwein came in ahead of me and as he was heading down the corridor he got caught... I was watching him get led off in the reflection in the window at the end of the corridor, and his captor seemed to be looking back over her shoulder a whole lot... so... as soon as she seemed more focused on leading him off... I slipped down the hallway, made a left, and THERE on a desk was a red flag! So I'm like, Holy shit, and I grab the flag and make a MAD dash out of there. I run out the hallway, up a flight of stairs, and outside into neutral territory, holding the flag and just being like "OMG I GOT A FLAG". I even took a picture :) Now here is the hard part... I hiked all the way from that 4100 entrance, across the cut, to several Doherty entrances, in the cold... and couldn't get in :( Eventually Kevin let me in, but I was really cold. We run up to 8427, I give them the flag, and then I collapsed into a coughing sneezing blood fit. It wasn't pretty. So I stayed in 8427 for like 20 minutes recovering. As a result my team didn't know I'd gone and gotten the 3rd floor flag, heh. Anyway, after talking Puzzle Pirates with Marybeth for a while, my teammates came in like "hey, come with us again" and then we headed into the 6th floor of Wean, I acted as a decoy again (first to get vkaplan off our backs, she tagged me, and then I slowly slowly walked down the hallway so that after Mark got the flag and was running back, they had me as a vague obstacle to get through). BLAM! As Mark said... our team got 5 flags in the two games we played in and Mark and I personally got 3 of those 5. Dude.
After CTF, Carl and Roman and Allwein and I played some cards in the lounge, and then Carl and I went to see Legally Blonde 2. Why? Because Carl is the best friend ever and the only person on the planet who would go see a movie like that with me. (Better yet, he suggested it.) It was pretty dumb but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Before CTF, I had some O fries for dinner. I think I still feel kinda sick from it :)
