just another slacking sunday
New icon is my Midnight Ocean version of Janthina. Gunner girl. Yar!
Today was board games at the House of Slack or something. I slept through Sunday bowling, was just way too zonked. Went over and Justin and Cory and Josh were just finishing up some game or another. Then Mike showed up a bit after me and we played a game of Taj Mahal. I was having trouble catching on at first, but what gets me is, I had the right instinct by the 12th round, and if I'd gone with instinct I would have won, but instead I was tied for second with Justin. (I should have screwed over Justin, basically.) After that we played Princes of Florence, which has become somewhat easier for me since carping a lot in Puzzle Pirates. I utterly lost this too, but at least on the last round I played a 29-point work. BLAM!
At that point we did some dinnering things, after sitting around talking about video games and stuff for a while. Megan and Heidi were working on homework and stuff downstairs, and Colleen came over to quilt, and Eli showed up too, so we all had a nice big Sunday dinner of pasta and stuff. (It really is kinda like a big family sometimes.) Mike and I had eaten WAY too much chocolate, though, so my appetite kind of sucked.
After dinner we got Eli to play a board game called Time Pirates with us. This game had very little to do with actual pirates at all, and was basically an exercise in graph theory combined with some tile stealing. If anything, think Doctor Lucky Captain Park With Stuff. At least I got to say "YARRR!" a lot and be silly. After that game we headed home. Hm. After Megan takes her quals I get to hang out with her more! Yay!
I played Puzzle Pirates for a few hours... was on a super-full sloop with my crew, which was just super frustrating because I was the seventh wheel; when we got into battle there was nothing for me to do. (Spinn took guns and Stiiv was navving.) I got pretty depressed and jumped ship as soon as we ported, and found Nykkel and Silverstar and Thunderbird and went PPA'ing. (PPA: v, 1. To go out pillaging with only 9 cannonballs on your ship, i.e., cruel and unusual punishment.) Unfortunately, around this time my eye spasms that I'd been having yesterday started up again, so it kinda sucked. I forget what happened after that, but somehow I met up with Farren and we went sailing around together and had a few decent battles... once I got intercepted and defeated, so I immediately re-intercepted and shot 'em full of crap and we won. That's always fun. As I remarked, "Forget diamonds... cannonballs are a girl's best friend."
I think I'm not as happy as I was yesterday. Oh well.
I also need to start planning my Pittsburgh trip, argh. Several of you will probly get email from me tomorrow...
