dr4biquity and Laurel and some other stuff
Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow what a good day! I don't even know where to start.
Okay, first. I recently had this hunch that I *must* know certain people on PP in real life. While we've figured out that it's not possible due to me arriving at CMU right after they left, I think a bunch of people who read my journal would probably find it amusing that I've run into
tabbifli and
kendaer on Puzzle Pirates... since several of you who were around CMU in the early 90's are common friends. (Particularly I mentioned
amergina and
sk4p, and others, but I didn't save the log.) How weird is that? They even know Dan Root, who I've not managed to see since moving out here. What a small ocean, or world, or whatever. I'm really psyched for the idea of having more local PP friends :) Plus the fact that I already knew I really liked them from in-game and all... it's sort of like the night I found out that all those Dan&Eric people were on my crew.
Anyway, we had a CRAZY GOOD RUN from Guava to Endurance and back. Much as I feel bad for keeping Nykkel up so late, I'm sure even he'd have to admit it was pretty profitable and pretty fun. I got attacked by many brigands and we did not lose a single fight. It was just really, really good. We all talked and joked on board and we pillaged and foraged and foraged and pillaged et cetera. It's times like that, that I'm just happy I play this game. I get to meet new people and beat up brigands and it's just so peachy-keen!
Before that I went to dinner at the Melting Pot, in honor of
shoebox_bird being in town! We went with Josh and Megan, and Joy. We got the full damned dinner with cheese appetizer fondues, salad, meat-and-veggies wine dinner fondue, and of course various dessert chocolate fondues. It was easily like $50 per person, but hey, this was a special occasion for several reasons. Josh got a new job, Megan's taking her quals, Laurel's in town, it's my half-birthday... yeah! I think fondue is a great place to go for dinner if you want to just have time to hang out and talk for a while and have neat food. We were there until like 11:30pm. It was good stuff all around.
Before that I was at work. The guys were having a scotch-tasting party at 5pm, which I politely declined to attend :) So they were all pretty tipsy in the office for a while... I made some decent headway on stuff, so I'm happy. I'm also like almost 2/3 of the way through reading The Boys of Summer by Roger Kahn... bus reading goes so slowly, but this is such a wonderful book, it really is. It's incredibly entertaining yet incredibly poignant and I'll write a full review when I finish reading it.
I'm really really happy :) And really really doomed since we're supposed to get up and go to dim sum in the morning. Yar.
