wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Today was really nice outside. It was ok at work, too. No officemates until 4pm, so I listened to music and hacked on this Perl thing I'm writing. I like it when I get to write Perl. I also ordered my plane tickets to go east today. Wheeeee! I'm really looking forward to going home. Hmm. Fred Potetz (coworker from Whizbang, but several of you guys know him) was in town interviewing at Amazon today. He called me RIGHT as I was getting on the bus to go home. Whoops. Perhaps I'll see him tomorrow.
After work I came home and did something pretty crazy. I called Chris In England (aka
jiggery_pokery) to wish him a happy birthday (hey, he's 16 years younger than Weird Al, whose birthday was also today, as was Edgars's, oops!). Since I'm lousy at talking on the phone and only know Chris through LJ, this was pretty crazy of me. BUT it was really neat. He has a very cute geeky British voice which is very endearing. And it was funny being like "So, what are you up to?" "Oh, I just got home from playing D&D..." "How weird! I'm about to go play D&D!" and so on. I wonder how much it costs to call England, anyway...
Josh picked me up for D&D a little bit after that. I had to guard the goblets of chocolate mousse he made for dessert. It was a little high-class after our late late dinner of Pizza Hut. D&D was pretty good though. We were betting with the XP chips tonight. That was just funny. We've finished a major plot hook so now we're recursing back to the main trail, so each time I'd be like "HEY, I bet [random character we encountered several months ago in real life time] is here," and everyone threw in chips to bet one way or another, and we split the XP pot. Whee. Our characters got to the big city and bought new armor and weapons and stuff. There's still like no magic to be found anywhere, although the witch that sent us on the spider mission gave my character a +2 poison dagger. I don't even want to *think* about how much that's worth... the upshot, however, is that I can finally use that and fight with a shield, so my AC will be 18 instead of the 14 I've been used to. Whew. I have hide armor now and so this is about as high an AC as I can get without magic.
Good times. Came home, played PP. Took my new boat, the Believable Flounder, out for a maiden voyage. Farren and Thunderbird joined me for the first leg, with a random jobber Icemaiden, and then I went along with random jobbers for the rest of the evening (Joneth and um... Pilgrim). They were all really good, because I turned down the newbie-looking jobbers that applied (C'mon. "Iwantyerbooty"? There's no fucking way I'm jobbing someone with that name.) and went for people with good stats. I have an ultimate in gunning and in sea battle now. Ha. Anyway, the jobbers were so good that I gave them a crazy high cut of the money afterwards and told them to please consider joining our crew on Midnight. Man, I really like being an officer, and having my own boat now TOTALLY rocks. Rawr!
time for sleep. I did pick up more stuff in the living room tonight, and tomorrow night I'll hopefully go shopping for some Halloween stuff and clean up a little bit more... I've really kinda fallen under the table on this Halloween party thing.

Your level 4 character has better magic items than my level 5 one does :-)
