It is Kiltie Band jacket season again for me (too cold for light jacket, too warm for winter coat). This morning on the bus someone asked me which high school band I play in (all they could see is "Deanna Baritone"). I guess that's good.
I had a GREAT Office Space moment at work today. My group manager's boss sent him a thing saying "Hey, Deanna should write a glossary of terms to go with her docs for this project," to my group manager, and to my boss. So my group manager forwards it to me like "Hey, you should do this." Then the manager's manager sent me email going "So, I think it would be great if you wrote a glossary..." etc etc. I start working on it... a few hours later when I'm about done, I get email from my boss saying "Hey, I have this great idea - why don't you write a glossary of terms to go with your docs?"
Yeah, so anyway. Eli and I tried another Italian restaurant tonight. They had eggplant. It wasn't very good. Too much cheese. Oh well. MAN I WANT TO GO TO PITTSBURGH SO I CAN GO TO DEL'S AND SPEND $8.99 AND GET A HUGE PLATE OF EGGPLANT PARMESAN AND A SIDE OF PENNE ALFREDO AND BREAD AND SALAD AND... oh, was that out loud? Bleh. Am looking into ditching the Arizona tourney and going to Pittsburgh for Nov 14-16. Will decide fairly soon. Promise.
Played Puzzle Pirates and it was AWESOME! After a brief stint with my crew,![[profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
ryani was on... said he'd be out pillaging after he watched the Simpsons. So I went shopping around for laurels (the headwreath thingies; they're rare a bunch of places), and ran into Nykkel and Thunderbird over on Gaea... was talking to them when Ryan said he'd be taking out his boat... so I said "hey, you guys should come too!" 'cause I always like crewing with my friends. So they did! Wheeeeee! So it was the four of us and a random crewmate of Ryan's, and then it turns out Keevon is playing PP now too... (NO! ESCAPE BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE FOR YOUR SOUL!) Yeah, so anyway, we got Keevon on board too... probably a really good first trip for him because we're all really nice people, so we helped him figure stuff out. Also, we pillaged a lot, so he ended up with a decent chunk of money at the end of it.
Afterwards Sean and Nyk left, and I went back out with Ryan on his boat. He let me nav.. and also let me lead Sea Battle :) I got lucky on my first one and actually hit the other boat like four times, but after that I wasn't as lucky and only got a few hits. At least I was able to intercept each time. I'm doing a LITTLE less of the accidentally turning left/right when I meant to turn the other way, at least. Was fun. Won a ton of battles, and in the end I actually ended up with enough money to order two laurels on Delta island without even having to spend any money I'd had before today. (So I got a total of at least 2500 poe tonight.) The problem I'm at now is debating whether I should be saving my money for a ship or whether I should just go buy some gratuitous clothes. Whee :)
Hmm, it would be REALLY funny if I decided to just make a ton of Puzzle Pirates LJ icons and zap all my old ones, wouldn't it? :)
I've had Toad the Wet Sprocket albums in my CD player for the past few hours on shuffle (Dulcinea, Fear, and In Light Syrup). It's funny how some songs still have this profound sombering effect on me, even after all these years.
