POSTY POST POST
Hi, my name is Keevon and I never update my LJ.
Just kidding. Today was a busy day, but I'm zonked so I'm going to blaze through it hopefully.
Oh, does anyone know how arch support shoe inserts work? Do I take out the inserts that came with my shoes and put these in, or do I put these inserts in over my inserts? They feel really weird when they're in WITH the default ones, but if I take out the default ones, then the front of my shoes feel weird... I'm not sure what to do.
Anyway, started off with Breakfast Bowl with the Loewen family up at Robin Hood at 10am-ish. It was pretty good, Megan and Josh gave us a ride there, and we saw Cory and Heidi and Justin and Colleen and a whole buncha Cory's family people and we bowled and we ate breakfast and man, do I suck at bowling now. I can't even remember the last time I bowled, but it was at least before May. My arm is jelly and my feet are gimpy and... yeah. I got 90-somethings in all of my games I think. Still, it was fun to see everyone.
Went to Cap Hill after that to see the
divinemisso, except she spent most of the time sleeping on Eli's lap, so instead I got to talk to
rubylou and
jeliza and
drakemonger since I never ever ever see them anymore since I suck. Jane might do a photo shoot of me sometime though, which is exciting, because her project is something about forced femininity, and it'd be really interesting to see what she could do with an utterly unfeminine female like me. Sean and I are going to get cheesesteaks sometime, and some other time I will have to come by to see Rachael and the baby Olivia, who is indeed quite adorable, but I probably took a lot more pictures of the cats, because they were much more awake. Yeah. Anyway, I gave them a Hello Kitty duck for Miss O, since ducks and Hello Kitties are very important to a child's early development.
Hmm, so I left there around 3:15, and I was supposed to go to Shoreline, and here's where my version of the day deviates from what I told people there, and I know they all read this, and yeah, I lied. After the baby shower I stopped in Northgate so I could get Dr. Scholl's arch supports for my feet since I was getting pretty concerned AND I was going right by Northgate. I did get the inserts... and then I went to Kicks Hobby and picked up their second-to-last copy of DDR Extreme. (I lied about this later because I didn't want to admit that a) I wasted a whole bunch of time and was an hour late and b) that I had a copy of Extreme, since I wanted to have an excuse to play songs on the CF pads a whole bunch.) At least I finally found Kicks, I'm really proud of that, since I swear I had no idea where it was until basically Farren said "ok, HERE IS HOW YOU GET THERE" and told me more than just "it's near Northgate, yo".
Got to
nykkel's house around 4pm. Gave him the birthday card I drew for him last week, but he seemed to think it was pretty silly. They were going to start playing Cosmic Encounter, but
kieferskunk showed up shortly after me so there were 7 people (me and the two aforementioned, as well as
mwinzi, Phaedrus,
keevon, and
mightyflorist). So I ended up teaching Ricochet Robot to Nykkel and Kiefer and the other four played a game of CE to teach Keevon how to play. To be fair, these guys caught on to RR a LOT quicker than many other people have, I was *especially* impressed by Nykkel, because I swear, I've brought that game to Redmond gaming a whole bunch and very few people, maybe Casey and Brian, have caught on at all their first game. Yeah. So then we played Uno, and in deference to
tesposit and
mrpeck, WHAT IS IT ABOUT UNO THAT MAKES EVERYONE DECIDE THAT DEANNA NEEDS TO BE MAULED? Yarrrrrrrr! If we'd kept points I would have easily had 20 times as many points as anyone else.
Ordered pizzas after that, and sat around playing with DDR Extreme and the Cobalt Flux pad for a while. I actually AA'ed More Deep HVY with a FC my first time playing it, and I got 7 greats and a boo on Un Deux Trois or whatever, and 6 greats on White Lovers... yeah, home perfect window. I also totally messed up some other random song (something with a Moon in it?) when I fell off the pad and twisted my ankle. Blargh.
Played Cosmic Encounter after that. First game had all of us except Phaedrus, who somehow disappeared right after dinner. I got stuck with Fungus and Calculator as my powers, and through DJ doing the math wrong and through somehow managing to totally neutralize Keevon's Void/Gorgon combination, I won the first game along with two other people (I want to say it was Jonathan and DJ, but I'm not positive). Then, because I am lame and have no willpower and hadn't played CE in a while, I stuck around for another game which we started at 10pm. This one was everyone minus Mwinzi, and we had one power and one moon. I of course had the Trip to Vermont in my system. My one power was Doppleganger. But early on everyone kept beating me up because they didn't want me to take their cards, and Nykkel especially kept beating me up, so I spent most of the game stealing his cards out of spite. In the end it all worked out, I somehow was on the winning side (I think it was Keevon, me, and DJ that time).
The irony is that Keevon was Warpish :) It reminded me of a certain other Kevin (
buoren) who has been immortalized in the CE game as "Kevin is so warpish it isn't even funny."
An interesting thing is that the more my brain was turning into jelly, the more I was just being obnoxious CSlounge Deanna version 3742 or whatever. The other week, I told Dan at Redmond Games Night that I only really start swearing when I feel comfortable around people. I wonder if that means I'm better off not feeling comfortable around people, because then at first I also get self-conscious about saying mean things that I'm kidding about, and whatnot, because I worry that people don't really get what I intend... shrug.
Yeah, so we watched Keevon play Max. (period) a few times on Extreme, and we put on the characters and had 3 dancing Emi 4th mixes on the screen and Nykkel played Graduation so there was 3 dancing Emis and a skipping Tokimeki Emi and well, it was just Emi Overload. Yow! And then I realized it was late late late and I went home. Home home. And then I wrote stuff and that's where I am now.
It was a good day (aside from the Marlins beating the Cubs), but why do I feel so incredibly horribly blah? And I know it has nothing to do with having to get up to be at work at 9:30.
Oh, and I need to get
platypuslord to send me some Paranoia stuff. (EDIT> Some of the Dan-specific Paranoia stuff. I've got the basic set and some modules and other books) Nykkel asked about the game, and I wonder if I'd be capable of trying to run something sometime... it's been so long since I got to play! And it is so goofy... and Dan's Paranoia games are the best... :)
