dr4b: (puzzle pirates)

more dr4biquity

Today:
I made everyone say hi to us when they come into our office to steal candy and snacks. Some people reacted better than others.

We grabbed the big table in the cafeteria and nearly forced the Personalization group to go find another table for their horde! But we finished lunch quickly and left just as the first people of their group were showing up. Hee.

After work I played some Puzzle Pirates, went to Leilani to play DDR, and played more Puzzle Pirates. (HEY! I AA'ed True Trance! Got 15 greats on 5.1.1 too!) DDR was fun, I played 3 sets, 12 songs, and came home.

Okay, so here's where dr4biquity is getting the best of me again. It turns out that not only is there the bizarre coincidence of me knowing Spinn from a past life, but like half of my frickin' crew are people from dan&eric. I caught Peterb on zephyr and he said that Stiiv is really Steve Gifford, and Nerak is kcf... and then I caught Steve on PP a bit later, and after I explained who I am and how I remember him from KGB/A-Phi-O/whatnot, he's like "wow, yer a young'un! Anyway, our crew has Karen and Jamshid, Jon Ferro, Pete, me, and now you, for CMU alumni."

Well, I *guess* that's cool :) And it's been years since I've been called a young'un, too! Ok, not really, I think Will Frank called me that when I talked to him a few weeks ago :)

Aside from that, I went on a short run with the YHY, but there was this annoying guy on who's captain for some other crew, so despite being a jobber for us, he kept ordering us around, and eventually I got fed up and spent all of my time jobbing for Farren and the Bilge Rats instead. We kicked names and took booty, and it was generally fun. There's a character called Drazen who's a senior officer for some other crew, and he jobs for the Rats often, and we pretty much double up on everything really well (sailing and swordfighting)... so there's all this underestimating going on and then WHAM we beat up everything.

Clothing update: I have my sailor suit but no hat, and my blue gown but no hat. I ordered a laurel to go with the blue gown, and for now a white bandanna to go with the sailor suit, but after my next pillaging run, I'll have enough for a tricorne. When I have hats for them I'll take pictures :)

BTW, if you read my last post about all the teams I want to win and are now laughing at me because the Sox lost, the Giants lost, and the Cubs lost today, I don't want to hear it, okay? :P

You mentioned an "annoying guy who's captain for some other crew" was ordering you around. I'd probably make a Vessel-scope remark like "Last I checked, XXXX was the captain of this ship, not you." That will probably prompt XXXX to comment on the situation.

Anybody with enough Experience (no actual skill required!) in the duty puzzles and enough PoE for a Small Sloop can be a captain. I could be captain of a crew tonight, if that's what I wanted. I don't see any reason to respect the captain of another crew just because they happen to be a captain.

The sheer amount of CMU alumni you just mentioned is frightening me. I haven't bumped into any of them yet - btw, if you care, you can find me on there as Alanafiona. [livejournal.com profile] gootmu is Dort. Until they fix the OS X version, we're having to share my laptop so only one of us can play at a time. :(
