I emailed them to say "hey, you guys should put in a friends list thingy". Cleaver wrote back to say "Yah. Number one request. It'll be there when we have the time to implement it. Glad you enjoy the game!"

Fine, that does it, my goal in the game is now to start up a "Deanna's friends list" crew.

Just kidding :)

I wonder if I should move all of my puzzle pirates speak to my janthina journal... it might be appropriate as I'm not really using that for much as I haven't been able to play a lot of Bemani... and because my pirate's name is Janthina :)

arrrrr but i like reading about your puzzle pirates adventures. i have a character on there named "frou" and i'm on a crew but i haven't been on there in about 2 weeks now i've just been so busy :(

Thank you so much for letting me know that puzzle pirates was playable by normal people. A friend of mine told me about it when it was alpha and only a few people could play, I ignored it, waiting for it to "hit the shelves" since he didn't make it clear how it was coming out.

I don't know, I'm Janthina on there, I'm usually on somewhere between 10pm-2am Pacific time, I'm in the Yo-ho Yohos crew of flag Opulence, my home island is Winter Solstice of the Diamond Archipelago... does any of this help?

Check out the Puzzle Pirates Academy if you're looking for a crew to start out in. If you get good at swordfighting I can possibly get you some jobs with the YHY :)

I'm disgustingly bad at all the puzzles. My old puzzle fighter skills are hurting more than helping.

They must be starting out newbies in the Diamond arch now rather than the Emerald arch. Which is a shame, as the crew that likes to take on newbies (PPA) is based on Gaea in the Emerald arch... weird.

I only changed my home to Winter Solstice yesterday because I got sick of there being crappy stuff on Emerald, and my friend Farren puts into port on Winter Solstice, and Carl on Cnossos. My crew's actually based on Namath island, in the Jet archipelago, but it's so far from all the good stores and crews that I wanted to have insta-teleport to a more central arch.

BTW, the Pillage People crew have a bunch of Bemani people... the captain, Sarachan, is a greeter, and she's pretty nice. And Puzzle Pirates Academy has a bunch of my DDR friends in it.

You'll catch on to the puzzles eventually. I'm sure you'll be better than me in a few days.

They're actualyl starting people randomly in many of the archipelagoes.

What makes you think I'll ever be better than you?

My friend, who seems to have some sort of in on pp says they'll be starting a new ocean in a few weeks, midnight ocean, and encouraging people to start over.

Midnight Ocean's going to be started when they start up the pay server, AFAIK (which basically means, "that's what Nykkel told me"). I think that's supposed to be happening fairly soon (like within the next month). And in theory there'll be a *little* bit of stuff grandfathered in but not much... so people will start off fairly equally again.

hmm, ok. I guess it just seems like a bunch of people I know who signed on recently are all in Diamond. Might just be random chance (and not that many arches).

well, to be honest, while I'm good at the prototype games for a lot of the puzzles in PP, I suck at the PP versions of a lot of them, at least relative to what you have to do to get good rankings. The only thing I'm consistently good at is Swordfighting.

What is "good", by the way? I keep wondering about what rankings mean and what order they're in, but their help system really needs, um, help.

well, you know how every time you reach a league marker it gives a duty report? and pirates are marked things like Incredible, Excellent, Good, Fine, Poor, Booched?

I rarely get above Goods on most stuff. I do get lucky sometimes. But certain people consistently get Excellent marks on *everything*.

I don't really know what's really really good. Look at the player profiles for some of the captains and officers of good crews and you'll see some crazy good rankings in stuff. (I think Stiiv and Spinn of my crew are both crazy good at everything... do a /who Spinn and click on it when it says "Spinn Info" or whatever. You can also see the Yo-ho Yohos song if you click on a link to our crew :) ) If you click on the underlined links under your rankings or other people's, you'll also get to see who are the top ten in each category in the ocean or the archipelago. Neat, huh?

I have no idea exactly what I'm getting myself into, but I created an account (and I mentioned you in the notes section as the user that referred me. I don't know if that gets you anything, but it was worth a try). I'm ancilla in their system, and hopefully I'll find some time to actually play the game. I was looking into toontown.com, but as fun as it sounds, it costs ten dollars each month. I can't justify spending on something I am not sure I'll have time for. So far, this puzzle pirates thing looks like it is free. I like that I get a chance to play around with it before they launch it for a fee.
