old friends, sat on a park bench like bookends

ok.
so I meant to wake up early today, but failed. go figure.
Got up around noon, failed to really clean much more of the house. Stewart showed up around 2-2:30ish, and we sat around chatting for a while until I was like "Hey, I'm hungry. Are you guys hungry?" so Eli and Stewart and I went to Red Mill and got yummy burgers for lunch (and Stewart went to get caffeine at the Starbucks). Then we came back here and talked for another hour or two, and then around 5pm went for a walk around Greenlake. That was kinda fun, and we saw a ton of ducks. We also saw this crazy tame squirrel that Eli took pictures of. ([community profile] jiggery_pokery will probly be impressed by that picture, IIRC) It took us like 2 hours to get around the lake because we kept stopping to look at ducks and dogs and this random event going on and whatnot. I forget how we wasted the next hour or two (talking more, I think). Then we went to Ivar's for dinner, and ate a lot of fish. Came back and talked more. Stewart wanted to see IIDX so I played a few songs for him. He thought it was cool, but was also like "I would NEVER play this game." Then I showed him my Japan pictures... and by then it was 1:45am or so, so we called it a night. (He's staying here tonight but in a hotel tomorrow night.)

It was an easy day to describe, but kinda hard to capture for me to really remember how cool it was to spend a day talking to him again. I swear he's the only other person in the galaxy who talks as fast as me, talks about as much random trivia that nobody cares about as me, tells as many pointless stories as I do, has an attention span as bad as mine, and is capable of just picking up a conversation point that got segfaulted six hours ago and continue with it as he is incapable of actually finishing a conversation. So I mean, it was just fun to talk about stuff, catch up on people (he was wondering how the Claritech folks are doing - hopefully he'll actually email some of you guys), on places, on movies and shows, on baseball, on trivia, on baseball trivia, on well, just about everything. It would be pretty cool if he ended up moving out here, although it would mean one less reason to go back and visit Philly. Shrug.

Just as impressed as you predicted :-)
