Deanna v26.3.19, now with 60% less hair

Wheeeeeee, I just got a haircut. From the roving hairdresser lady who comes to Amazon's cafeteria every other Tuesday to cut hair.

I wasn't sure how much I wanted to have cut, and I was like "half a foot?" and the hair lady was like "You know, if I cut off at least 9 inches, I can donate it to one of those places that makes wigs for children with cancer..." So I was just like sure, what the heck. So she cut off a ponytail of around 10 inches for that, and then evened up the rest and layered it a little, for another deficit of a few inches. My hair's an inch or two below my shoulders now. It feels so LIGHT!

Yes, I'll take a picture and post it when I get home, for all of you going "WTF? Deanna without waist-length hair?"

I'm still deciding whether I like it or not. I think I need to play with it a bit to figure that out... but at least I won't look totally straggly when I go to Japan. And this should cut down my shampoo/conditioner usage by half and my morning routine by a few minutes as well. Yay!

Neat. When I got my big haircutting the place offered to donate it to Locks of Love, which really pleased me because I was hoping to do that and didn't know how to find a place that would, finally gave up and just went to get my hair cut.

They mostly give it to children who have an auto-immune disorder that causes their body to attack its own hair causing not just baldness but baldness that looks weird. It's apparently pretty rare, but clearly nice wigs for these kids would be good. So, I was really glad. In either case, alopecia or cancer, it's certainly nice to have your hair go to a good cause.

They even sent me a nice little thank you card so I know they received the hair. Although it is a little weird to think about someone else wearing my hair too.

Thats really COOL!

I had a friend who donated her hair when she cut it. Afterwards the lady who cut her hair explained that they need hair from like 10 donors to make a single wig and she went on a mission to convince nine more people with really long hair that short hair is a fashion statement and they really should cut theirs and donate it.
It's a good thing to do, and yeah a pic would be cool!

*grin* Yeah. I did too! The first time I cut my hair I chopped of a little more than 3 feet (yeah my hair was REALLY long back then. After cutting off that much my hair was still considered long since it still hung to about 10 inches or so below my shoulders). The second time I cut off a foot and my hair was above my shoulders for the first time since I was 5.

Both times it totally felt light and brushing my hair felt weird, shampooing was easier, and all sorts of other things. =) The weird part about the first time though was that I found that I had developed all sorts of habits from having insanely long hair that no longer were necessary.

That is such a kind thing to do. I'm sure some little girl will be thanking you each time she wears her wig!

Ah, Locks of Love. I remember looking into that before. Whenever/if-ever I cut my hair, I'm definitely doing that.

Oh, no, not that one. I meant the pic behind the cut in the next entry. I just dropped the comment in the wrong one. I read them backwards. :)
