And a time to every purpose under heaven is a '57 metallic gray
volleyball
Only 4 of us showed up for our match (me, Ami, Jason, and Brett). The other team had 5 people. We actually won, though! This means that next week we play against team Furikake to be the winners of the losers bracket. Wow. I also got to see Tim, who's back at Amazon now! He was playing for the Dev Tools team, and he's like "HEY DEANNA!" and so I ran up to him and hugged him, which I think surprised him a bit. (And yes, I did spot Marty at the table of people watching the game, but I wasn't sure what I'd be able to say beyond "Hi." so I didn't say anything.) After volleyball I got lunch with Jason and Ami and Brett in the cafeteria, since my group had gone off to get beer and lunch. That was pretty cool. Brett's such a character. He honestly reminds me of Deryck, a lot.
work
Fridays are so funny. Some guy was at Amazon signing his "BBQ USA" book and giving out free food samples. I missed it. In the meantime Colin and Aaron came over to the team room to hang out for a while. We talked about CS classes and stuff, and Colin and I ended up juggling oranges for a while doing some weird 5-pattern... until we splattered two of them on the hallway floor, heh. I also finally called the Mariners office, and I'm gonna get season tickets next year with Casey and Cara! How cool is that?
dinner/fandamily
Eli picked me up from work and we came home and waited and eventually his whole fandamily showed up here. Eli's mom and dad and youngest brother flew in today, and Eli's other brother and sister-in-law drove up from Portland, and so we all went to get dinner. They wanted somewhere nearby so we ended up at Gordito's, despite me having had a HUGE quesadilla for lunch. We watched the Mariners lose first though... that was a close call at the end, too. Despite how Eli and I warned everyone that the servings there are HUGE, everyone got their own burritos and as a result the only people to finish what they ordered were me and Eli since we split a burrito.
So Eli's parents are on our sofabed and all the siblings are in the basement. I guess it's kinda exciting to have everyone around and all... we'll have to come up with cool touristy things to do all weekend or something.
tanya's party
Yeah, so after dinner I hung out a bit and then went to Tanya's house, she was having a pre-Lith's-wedding/come-hang-out-with-Jim party, since our friend Jim is in town from California for Kevin's wedding tomorrow. It was a really good gathering, even though I didn't get there until 10pm. It wasn't particularly overcrowded with people or anything, and I actually felt comfortable around everyone there, which hasn't been the case at most Bemani gatherings of the last several months. Lessee, I showed up exactly the same time as CharlieTheThird, and the people there were Jim, Tanya, Charlie, Keevon, Amber, Steve, Laura, Ray, and later Foy, and Met was leaving just as we got there. I played a little IIDX with Keevon, and a bit of Pop'n'Music with people, and I played a couple games of Tetris Attack with Ray. That rocked, Ray and I are actually fairly well-matched... it makes me feel good about how much I must have progressed with my skill. I spent a lot of time talking to Steve, and to Foy, and to Tanya, all of which was really good. I can't express how good it feels to be able to actually talk to Steve again, at least. And of course I'm really happy for Keevon and Amber, except the math, but that's their business.

Man, everything in my life IS shaping up. Well, except for the one thing I won't discuss on LJ. Hm. The other odd thing is that I would normally make entries like this friends-only, but I vaguely want Tanya/Steve/etc to be able to read it even though they deleted their LJs. Eh, I have nothing to hide. Time to sleep...

Seriously, it was run just like a Major Project at Amazon. ;;)
