i'm in california! wow how neat!
today:
volleyball
WE WON! and this time we even had all people from our team, including me and ann, so it was a valid match. given, this was the losingest team against our losingest team. so in reality it was just a lot of fun and I laughed a lot. but it was nice to finally win a match. plus i finally figured out who that
datavore guy is (he was on the opposing team). yay!
gurupa day
Yeah, so today was a day of celebration for our team at work for various reasons. I really didn't get anything done after 4pm or so because our office was filled with people hackeysacking and goofing off and hanging out. Yan poured us all champagne and we hung out. The group went out to dinner at some nice restaurant after, but I was like "sorry, I'm going to California." "no, really, what are you doing?" "i'm not kidding. I'm going to CA for the weekend." "yeah, whatever." heh. the only sad part of the day was saying goodbye to Mark for good... well, or until I visit CMU. BUT I went down to say hi to him and I STOLE HIS SLINKY. But then he decided to give it to me. whee!
i fly in a plane to california
WEIRDEST FUCKING THING: So I'm sitting there and suddenly I hear from behind me, "Uhh... Deanna?" and it's Guy Bialostocki! Wow! He looks so different than last time I saw him... so since there was an empty seat next to me on the plane, he sat with me and we talked for like half an hour. (Guy's a friend of mine from CMU, I didn't even know he'd left Pittsburgh.) He lives in Idaho now, which is wacky, and he follows the Mariners, so we talked a bit about people and a lot about baseball. Was cool. And it turned out he was coming to SJC to visit my friends Dave Seidman and Matt McHenry, so I was like "no shit!" and so I got to say hi to them when they came to pick him up! wow! I hadn't seen Dave in like 3 years... how cool! And Matt I saw last year but still, it was good to see him again. That was just awesome.
zqfmbg met me at the gate and was very nice about me taking the side tour to see everyone :)
i go to SVGL
YEAH, so it was 11:30pm and we went to SVGL. I got 2 on BIMP, and I-Gene and I actually were fairly even (like literally for 5 songs I only beat him by an aggregate 2 perfects... and I chose the songs)... I played a game of KBM too... and I watched people play IIDX 9th style but the line was too long. HOLY FUCKING CRAP OROCHI IS GOOD AT IIDX. He AAA'ed Abyss the Heavens Mix 7K... and MAN did that look scary. I hope I get to actually play on Sunday rather than just watching people... still... IIDX 9th is pretty :)
i'm at i-gene's apartment
Robin really does exist. And Nintendo Puzzle Collection is so awesome :)
my ears still haven't popped
I am a little worried about this - my ears didn't really pop when the plane came down and so I'm still getting weird echoes in my head. bleh.
shandrew, gimme a call in the morning if I don't get up and call you by 10? I can probly get a ride to SVGL or somewhere in Palo Alto... I think... just not sure what time.
