Indian Food and Videogames - a typical Sunday

3am again, this week is going to suck in terms of sleep again :( Good as gold, but stupid as mud, that's me.

Okay, today. Eli and I got up and went to lunch at Bengal Tiger with [personal profile] drakemonger and [personal profile] jeliza, which was a lot of fun. I am still the Goddess of Parallel Parking, if anyone cares. Anyway, there was buffet lunch, and unfortunately there wasn't much in there I liked except chicken curry, a lot of the choices were weird vegetarian lentils things, but oh well. It was still fun to hang out with people, and eat indian food. Afterwards we ended up going into the Animal Friends or whatever pet store/shelter, and I took a billion pictures of cats and birds and other cute fuzzy creatures. Some of them came out really well, I'll be posting them eventually with all of my IZ pictures. No, I don't really want a cat again, but damn, they're so cute. After the pet store we tried to go to Math'n'Stuff or whatever it's called up at 92nd and Roosevelt, but it was closed. Note to self: the hours are Tue-Sat, 10-6pm. Maybe next week.

Anyway, I hung out at home working on resizing pictures for a while, I think Eli went grocery shopping in the meantime, etc. I've had a nagging headache all day and I've been popping Tylenol for it and been mostly okay. Pictures took forever because I got sidetracked talking to people, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Eli got us more ham so I had a ham sandwich for dinner. No, I didn't play IIDX while eating it.

Went to Rumi and Matt's place because Rumi is cool enough to have the Nintendo Puzzle Collection for the import GameCube. And man, is it the most awesome fucking thing ever! But anyway, when I got there, Foy was playing IIDX and I hung out talking to Rumi and all. Foy kept going on about "I've only been playing this game for like 3 hours and I can beat 5-star songs on Light 7!" It was sort of wacky, I mean, he was passing songs that it took me 2 months to pass. Oh well. I mean, he's probably almost at my skill level and I've been working at it for 4-5 months, not 4-5 hours. But I guess this is typical for me and Bemani.

Uh, so anyway, Rumi went and invited Steve and DJ to come over, and they brought more GC controllers, and after a bit more IIDX, we got down to the real business of the night - Deanna kicking Steve's ass at puzzle games. Err, I mean, playing 4-player puzzle games with everyone. Yeah. Seriously, I was really surprised that I was doing so well at Panel De Pon, given it was my second time playing it ever, but I really enjoyed it a lot, it's such a cool game, I really hope I can pick up a copy of it someday or be lucky enough to come over to Rumi's to play it a whole bunch. and someday go up against masters like Crackoon and Bobby. It was really really addictive and really really fun. After it we played some Yoshi's Cookie, which nobody really knew how to play, but it was fun anyway.

Then was the kicker - Dr. Mario! Anyone who knew me and my NES habits sophomore year (read: [profile] bn29) may remember how good I used to be at that game. Well.. I've gotten rusty. But not THAT rusty. Steve claimed to suck at it, but we were actually fairly evenly matched (even though I won 3 games to his 1)! One of those, I swear he was like one second behind me, we both had one virus left AND the appropriate color tablet falling. That was neat! It's so cool to play against someone at my skill level! And now I will never ever believe Steve again if he says he sucks at a videogame, because I have never seen him do anything BUT rock at videogames.

So after that, somehow an Uno challenge got launched, so Rumi and DJ and Aaron and Steve and I ended up playing Uno. This one game took about seventy years to finish, and Aaron was singing the entire soundtrack to Aladdin for the duration. ("What do you wish?" "I WISH YOU'D PLAY A CARD!" "*plays a Skip* Be careful what you wish for!") Aaron won both games, but it was still amusing. There was LOTS of love going around the table, let me tell you. I think I finished that first game with 30 cards. Oh well, it was fun. After that we all went home, and I've been goofing off on the computer since.

Sigh, how DID it get to be 3:30am? Stoopid LJ ate part of my post the first time, anyway. Still, it was a fantastic day over all, this is what life's supposed to be like, hanging out with friends, playing video games and card games, being (or trying to be) happy, etc. I think it was a good weekend in general, despite stuff. So, yay.

Bwaa... I forgot to tell you that I have an UNO set that is Japanese and features Doraemon! I would SO love to be able to play it sometime (mainly because I forgot it existed).

OH and STEVE! BAD! He was supposed to be like, doing stuff at home like paper and stuff. He told me at lunch that he really had to get those things done and that he "wasn't to be distracted." Hahaha, not that I blame him. I always liked to purposefully distract myself when I was in school.
