The weekend.

I'll LJ-cut 'cause this is going to be LONG. I think.

Saturday I woke up a little later than planned, but it was okay.

Gaming at [profile] animegothgrrl's place
Showed up at Julie's place a little after 3pm, 'cause I'd stopped at 7-11 to get soda and chips, which turned out to be superfluous anyway. There were uh... 5 or 6 people there? Julie, and her roomate, and a Cyra, Andrew, Bret, Mike (?), Izzy... I am really bad with names, especially when nobody introduces themselves. :) We played Pit for a while, which was really fun, even if I sucked at it. After like an hour, I think Julie had 400-something points, and most of the rest of us were in the negatives.

We started setting up Robo Rally when the arrival of our 8th became imminent... and it still took a little longer, so I watched a game of Giph or something, and then the Jason guy showed up, so we started with the Robo Rally. It was Julie, Izzy, me and Cyra against Mike, Bret, Andrew, and Jason. It only lasted like an hour. Why? We had four boards, corners were boring boards and our bases with flags on them, and the other two were like the Maelstrom and some random A&D board. So after a turn or two, my team had gotten to their flags and their team had gotten to our flags (I had a faulty algorithm for getting in Andrew's way). This wouldn't be so bad except that the guy defending their flags had the Big Bad Bomb as his option. So BOOM! He set it off and basically vaporized the other 3 members of my team, and half of his team. So their team had one of our flags, but we didn't have any of theirs... and then Julie and I failed to hunt down Andrew because Jason had the twofer gun and shot us both down before we could get anywhere. So he got back to base with our flag. Game over. Nobody wanted to play again :(

I tried to call [personal profile] megami at that point and failed, so I hung around for a game of Carcassonne with Bret, Izzy, Sarah, and Cyra. I have to admit that after playing the Hunters and Gatherers game, I really don't like the original Carcassonne. We also watched the Dark Crystal in the background... (The Neverending Story was on when I got there; then Labyrinth; then She-Ra, and then Dark Crystal. Good stuff! It was really neat, I had not seen some of those in a REALLY long time). After Carcassonne, I called Rumi again, and Eli, and left. It was fun, I wouldn't mind hanging out with the people who were there again, so I hope Julz invites me next time to her gaming stuff! Yay.

After gaming, I stopped home briefly, and then headed to IZ to meet up with people for our evening plans.

Illusionz!
I got to IZ around 9pm. Lots of people were there! It was really fun! I saw Rumi, and Nykkel, and DJ, and Crackoon, and [profile] drj36 and [profile] flotastic and Rayna, and Steve, and Keevon and other-UW-guy, and [profile] laurii, and Joelle and Stephen were up from Portland, and I met mogutan1977 or whatever for the first time, and err, Allan was there for a bit I think, and Tyler, and Tada, and other people I don't know as well. I basically only played one game of DDR, with Rumi. I spent the entire time pretty much playing PPP and DM. PPP was really funny, I did all these nonstop randoms; at one point I got Sexy Sexy Sexy, and I turned around and was being shadowed by like 5 people! I yelled "HOLY SHIT!" which was apparently pretty funny. This is not to be confused with the time I turned around during SSS and saw Rumi smacking Steve for mock-shadowing us, and then the next time I turned around I saw him actually shadowing us and I just burst out laughing and fell over and nearly failed the song :) Steve makes me laugh so much. I guess it's because he has such a contagious smile.

It is really fun to be at IZ with lots of people! I watched a lot of games played, and we did some super sessionning, and screwed up a session and Rayna and I played a game of KBM together, and hm, Steve broke his drumsticks on some insane song on DM. I did some super stealth on PPP, and my DM was apparently good enough that mogutan started talking to me because of it *shrug*. And having lots of people to shadow with at PPP was awesome, we really had a great time with our whole crowd dancing behind the PPP machine... at one point it was really funny 'cause like we girls were seriously dancing, and then behind us, Crackoon and Keevon and Tyler and all were mock-shadowing... they were SO funny. :) Anyway, eventually we rounded up people to head to Applebee's, and got out the door around 11:30. Whee.

Applebeeeeeee's
Applebee's was Steve, Rumi, me, Robert, DJ, and eventually Joelle and Stephen. Rumi and I had mondo strawberry margaritas or something. Best slurpee ever! :) I had lots of fun hanging out with people, and eating food since I hadn't eaten all day, and DJ got a free dessert because his birthday was last month (I didn't know that he's in the category of people older than my little brother!) and this time I decided not to just finish all my food out of spite, so I let Steve finish it. I ended up being a big dork over Portland gossip, but I really don't know them very well. I was kinda buzzed from the margarita though, so I'll blame it on that. I *heart* everyone who was with us at AB's, so it was a good time.

Too much Mr. Driller!
I felt really buzzed still when we left, so Rumi offered for me to come over to their place (they live near the AB's) and sober up a little before hitting the highways. So I did that, giving DJ a ride to her place. Of course, when I got there, how was I supposed to know that there was a whole gaming party going on there... Roscoe from the #bemani IRC channel was in town, so Matt had invited over Scummo and Slant and CorranFox and Roscoe and Eiji and all. They were playing SSBM when we got there. After a bit they switched to this super Mr. Driller game. I watched people play for a while and talked to people a little. It was pretty relaxing to just be in a room full of videogame nerds, to be honest. The funniest was when CorranFox was like, talking and talking and talking for a while, and he was just.. hilarious. I can't really remember what he was saying, but I just lost it, was laughing so hard I was crying, and then he was like "what's so funny?" and I'm like "no dude! keep talking!" and then the rest of the room lost it too. I guess you just had to be there. I think Bobby got a picture of me in a "fox-induced hysteric fit", as he called it. Anyway, Bobby and Roscoe left and I suddenly realized it was like 3:30am and I should leave too. I ended up giving DJ a ride home, and then going home, stopping at a gas station on the way. Rawr. Got in around 4am.

Good times, good times. I did something else that was REALLY funny, but I can't mention it here. All I have to say is that I hope Matt doesn't hate me. I don't THINK he does... but it's hard to tell :(

Well, needless to say, getting in at 4am meant I got up at 4pm today (except for at noon when I was up for like a half hour because my grandfather called and I talked to Eli for a little while. I feel bad for my grandfather. He's really lonely. I don't know what to do about it though. I guess it's almost 6 months since Grandma died. Bleah.)

Sunset Bowl
I decided to go play an hour of DDR at Sunset before showering/etc for the day... little did I know I'd run into Keel and Chris Danford again. When I got there, they were teaching some little kid to play DDR. It was cute, they were calling out the directions and clapping the beat for him. After his 4th song his family got a lane, so they let me have the fifth song. I picked random and it picked Fantasy MAX1. Oh man. Not a good warmup song, especially not at 1x!! I gave up and Chris tried it and he actually gave up too!

I watched Kyle do a round of doubles, he is REALLY impressive, I mean, he can almost FC Gentle Stress double heavy without even thinking about it - I remember when Sam wrote his whole doubles FAQ about how to pass that! Then some other guy played... and then I played a round with Chris, which was really fun, he's SO good at DDR! I forget what songs we did in particular, but I mostly matched him, even picking catas like "I feel..." and all. I actually full-comboed AM-3P maniac as an Extra Stage with him though! Then I ended up playing the Dancemania Nonstop with Kyle. I did really well combo-wise but AWFUL PA-wise, it was impressively bad. Then we watched some other guy play, and a random asian girl asked to play with Chris - she played on light and he played all on S4R Reverse :) He did Cartoon Heroes S4R Reverse and totally aced it! Then I played a set with Kyle again. He got me to play bag Heavy, and I failed it - but I B'ed Burning Heat right after. I quit after that set. It was really really fun though, they are good guys to hang out with!

After Sunset, I came home and got ready for dinner.

Sunday Dinner
Tonight for dinner we had the following guests: [profile] mh75, Josh, [personal profile] jinian, Wim, and [profile] thatmathchick. Eli made veggie chili and deanna's-favorite-beefy-chili, and weird chocolate chip cookies at dessert which were negated by Kylee bringing a peach pie anyway. I was energetic and hyper for about two hours of dinner but I lost a lot of steam around the time Megan and Josh left. I really wanted to come up and either do laundry or write my journal for the weekend or talk to people online, but since people were still here, I couldn't. I helped Deb hem some of her pants by pinning them for her (I don't mind doing that! don't get me wrong!) and then I hung out some listening to conversation and then I went upstairs for a bit and then I went downstairs and then upstairs because everyone was touring Eli's books and music equipment and I had totally lost my steam for socializing. I'm not very good at keeping up being social-Deanna when I'm a little stressed over the social situation in the first place AND I'm exhausted and distracted. So I gave up.

And that brings us to now. I'm supposed to let Tanya and Allan know tomorrow whether I want to spend a week in Japan with them next month. I want to go to Japan again, badly, but I'm not sure this particular trip would be a good idea, for various reasons (the biggest part for me is that I don't want to be the most skilled Japanese speaker in the group). And worse, I really want to go when Carl will be there, if he gets to go with JET or whatever (or heck, if anyone else I know gets to go with JET). I just don't know. I should sleep on it. The question is seriously whether I'll get another opportunity to go this year... ideally I would like, get to go with people like Rumi, Matt, DJ, Steve, Robert, I-Gene, etc, some other time... that would rule. But part of me knows I should jump at this chance for cheap airfare and all. Oh well.

D'oh. Oh well... so many places to visit, so little vacation time, and so little money to pay for all the airfare.

The only consolation is the free trip I get from Alaska Airlines in...oh, another *counts* ten trips or so?

What if I sell a kidney, can I come to Japan? :D
